Subject: RE: BS: What's your good news? From: Metchosin Date: 08 May 01 - 01:40 PM Oh yeah, and best of all, my Westie didn't die after spending two days in intensive care after ingesting neuro toxins from rotting compost and going into convulsions when my father-in-law took her for a walk. |

Subject: RE: BS: What's your good news? From: Metchosin Date: 08 May 01 - 01:23 PM I didn't have to dig all the shit out of the run in sheds, my nephews did it for me on the weekend.
The dead deer off the edge of the driveway doesn't stink any more, its been reduced to a pile of hide and bones by turkey vultures and various insects.
I live in an area where dogs are more highly prized than business. I paid more for my annual dog license yesterday than my business license. BCAA only took 15 minutes to rescue me yesterday at the local municipal hall, when for the 2nd time in less than a month month, I locked my keys in the car. |

Subject: RE: BS: What's your good news? From: MAG (inactive) Date: 08 May 01 - 12:43 PM OK, massage therapy is helping with my somewhat dysfunctional body; I am able to walk for exercise, I finally got off my duff, redid my resume, and am actively looking to relocate to someplace I will be happier. |
Subject: RE: BS: What's your good news? From: Dharmabum Date: 08 May 01 - 11:13 AM I've just started taking medication for my MS in the past few weeks. The first two injections made me pretty ill with side effects. I did my third injection last night & the side effects are at a minimum today. Seeing as I'll be doing this once a week for the rest of my life,I'm pretty happy that the adverse effects are diminishing. Ron. |
Subject: RE: BS: What's your good news? From: Dave the Gnome Date: 08 May 01 - 10:42 AM Good luck BP. It will go brilliantly and you will get the job - provided you realy want it of course! Keep positive - you've seen the power already:-) Our weekend went very well. Gets even better now. For the first time since 1975 when our eldest was born we have the house completely to ourselves for nearly 3 days! Son #3 is back at uni. till Thursday night. Daughters are off to Northumbria on a school trip till Friday. Wayhay! What can we do??? Forgot what it's like to not have to watch MTV, Japanese cartoons and Buffy the vampire slayer 24 hours a day!!!! Any suggestions? Keep it cleen(ish) please;-) Dave the Laughing Gnome |
Subject: RE: BS: What's your good news? From: Bagpuss Date: 08 May 01 - 10:33 AM I thing this thread brought me good luck! My good news is that I have an interview for a job! Maybe I'll finally be able to get out of the hole of a job I'm in. Wish me luck... |

Subject: RE: BS: What's your good news? From: wysiwyg Date: 08 May 01 - 12:40 AM Hey Kim! Well, as you might recall, the Censor and the Translator died awhile back. Today it became obvious that the Enabler is dead and gone! Wha-hoo! And certain others appear to have been disconnected! WHA-HOO! ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: What's your good news? From: GUEST,Midchuck upstairs Date: 07 May 01 - 11:11 AM The house is paid off. And it hasn't fallen down yet. Kris is taking early retirement. This only means she's looking for new work, but it'll be part time. When you're a teacher that means you teach half the day and do your prep work the other half - full time means you teach all day and do prep work half the night. So you don't get much sleep, or time for leisure activities, except on weekends or vacations. So we can work on music a little more effectively. I own the finest guitar I have yet - bought Jack Lawrence's Collings that he played on stage with Doc Watson from '93 until a year or so ago. Now I have to learn to play it properly. Damn. I am owned by the two most obnoxious black-and-white kittens that ever jumped onto the middle of a file that was spread out on a desk. I posted the link to the pictures a while back. Both kids are coming home this summer - Ian will be at Old Songs with us. Poor devil. Peter. |
Subject: RE: BS: What's your good news? From: Kim C Date: 07 May 01 - 10:16 AM Great great great!!!!!! Our weekend was very successful. Those guys I were so afraid to play in front of, were very complimentary to us. A couple of other players - a guitarist and another fiddler - invited us to come play with them, which we did, and it was great fun. So there was never any reason to be so uptight. Which my brain knew all along... but y'all know how that works. On to the next project!!!!!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: What's your good news? From: Ruthie A Date: 07 May 01 - 09:41 AM Phew! OK, I've been predicted A* for my GCSE music exam, which I'm taking two years too early. My piano was tuned yesterday and the R-2 key on my flute's finally been fixed. It's not raining (depite it's the north of England) and I've got some very interesting blue gauze to put on my bedroom ceiling. I've also been accepted to tour France with the Bede Wind Philharmonic in late July, even though I left my application seven months too late. Yay! Ruthie |

Subject: RE: BS: What's your good news? From: Bugsy Date: 06 May 01 - 09:06 PM Well, after undergoing a newish proceedure a couple of weeks ago, my heart is now as good as any other 52 year old. I'm walking 3kms per day instead of 300m and (all being well) should be signed off as fit today by the doctor and be able to return to work tonight (been off for about 6 months). Thats "GOOD NEWS" to me!

Subject: RE: BS: What's your good news? From: roopoo Date: 05 May 01 - 02:40 AM My long-awaited and nagged-for new kitchen was delivered this week, and after 7 days of climbing over boxes of units and doors, lengths of worktop and a cooker, and not being able to get at the freezer in the garage, it will be fitted, starting Tuesday! I will not mind not being able to cook, wash up, do the laundry... I have a camping stove and a combi-oven, and the pub across the road does great meals. I have craft fairs on Sunday and Monday, plus an evening stall on Tuesday, all of which will get me out and about, (after the last few weeks being stuck in the area and starting to sort out my mum's affairs), and mean some hard, late night catch-up work if the earlier ones do well. I will moan and groan and get no sleep, but I will be ENJOYING myself!! (No sleep, because the combi oven only runs for 90 mins at a time, and doughcraft takes hours to bake. It then has to be painted and sealed). My friend in Wiltshire has sent me a root of a plant which a guy she knows has spent 7 years developing. It is the only specimen outside Wiltshire, as far as I know (gloat mode engaged). Yes, it's a "legal" plant! I am going out for lunch with my brother in law. And I think he's paying! I'm off with our dance side to Belgium at the end of the month. Andrea |
Subject: RE: BS: What's your good news? From: SINSULL Date: 04 May 01 - 10:15 PM I just spent the funniest two hours sitting in a proctologist's office with Pat Cooper ( the comedian), a very confused elderly lady who thought she had an appointment but was late for her flight to Texas, a male nurse who confused doped up with knocked up, and a stand up comedian for a doctor. On the way home, I started laughing out loud on the subway and got a row of seats all to myself. I will compose the details when I come down to earth. |

Subject: RE: BS: What's your good news? From: Ma Fazoo Date: 04 May 01 - 09:35 PM Let's see...our 31'st anniversary is on the 14th of May, our son's furture mother=in-law is coming all the way from California to be with us, as she was last year. Instead of having anything itzy, we (with smiling permission), take over the neighborhood pub for the night, and all our musician friends and musical family members sing to us....HEAVEN. Ooops! The instrumentalists are not to be forgotten here. They play their hearts out. |
Subject: RE: BS: What's your good news? From: Gary T Date: 04 May 01 - 08:55 PM I just had the pleasure of meeting and singing with Wyo Woman, who joined our singaround/jam last night. A most enjoyable lady to visit with, and a mighty fine singer. Mudcat strikes again! |

Subject: RE: BS: What's your good news? From: Rick Fielding Date: 04 May 01 - 08:20 PM Well after many years of solo playing, I took the plunge and have put a band together (this month). The other four musicians are superb, we've rehearsed four times (not something I'm disciplined to do, normally) and looks like we'll have a regular Monday evening at a wonderful new folk club in town right after the radio show. Fer me dat's good news. Rick |

Subject: RE: BS: What's your good news? From: harpmolly Date: 04 May 01 - 07:37 PM Gosh, where do I start? Well, as I posted earlier, I gave 30-days notice on Tuesday. Hurrah! Courage finally won out! :D On top of that, one of my last major projects is to pull together the new songbook for this summer's B'nai B'rith Camp. So now I have an actual work-sanctioned excuse to surf the Mudcat! Yay! Kate Rusby has a new album out and she's going to be playing Seattle in July! I'm in heaven! And for extra bonus cookies, the cute redheaded cashier at Zupan's has flirted madly with me the last several times I've been in (last time he even said, "Make sure to tell me if you're going to be performing around town!") All in all, not too shabby. *grin* M |

Subject: RE: BS: What's your good news? From: Ebbie Date: 04 May 01 - 07:24 PM I just got a call from a piano tuner who hung up on me this morning- he apologized! Considering I had done nothing wrong- he was angry at another tuner- the incident had left a bad taste in my mouth. Now all is well. I wonder why we, as human beings, resist apologizing? The outcome of an apology is almost uniformly positive. My other good news is that I had a small medical procedure done last week and this week I got the news that everything tests out fine- all benign, and all taken care of. Is it the stars, or is it in ourselves? :) Ebbie |

Subject: RE: BS: What's your good news? From: DancingMom Date: 04 May 01 - 05:54 PM I am FINISHED with the semester!!I took my final exam today. I fell going into the classroom and sprained my ankle, but like the good nurses and friends they are, my classmates got a trashcan to prop my foot on, fetched an ice pack, and provided strong medication, and I sat and took that 4 1/2 hour exam. Made a "B". The good news of all this is that, for one last time I got to sit among some wonderful friends I've made, and it helped me to see what I'M made of. (I guess I'm a pretty tough old broad) |
