Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Patrish(inactive) Date: 12 Sep 00 - 05:21 AM I think we owe it to ourselves to go for it........You know what they say about a butterfly alighting on a flower in the amazon directly effecting the stock exchange or something. Think of the power we could harness......today mudcat, tomorrow the world I am getting carried away here....... Patrish |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: GUEST,KingBrilliant Date: 12 Sep 00 - 05:12 AM Patrish - a bit of material to cover me? Well I did say I was bringing a tent!!! I used to do a bit of belly dancing before I had a belly - great fun. God knows what would happen now though! It could be very dangerous... Kris |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Patrish(inactive) Date: 12 Sep 00 - 04:48 AM I am sure, as to slapped blancmanges it sound like a really good name for a group. I think it would be entertaining to go ahead with this - who knows it could be the start of a whole new career in wibbly wobbly sort of way. At the worst we will all have a laugh at the best we create the first perpetual motion experiment Patrish |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Liz the Squeak Date: 11 Sep 00 - 05:22 PM Are you sure you want to do this, because I know of at least 2 bellies that once they start moving, is like watching one of those 1970's oil/water wave machines - they can take hours to stop moving!!! Personally, mine moves like a slapped blancmange..... ever seen a walrus moving up the beach?? LTS |

Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Patrish(inactive) Date: 11 Sep 00 - 10:27 AM Before anyone else thinks I'm suggesting an orgy, let me come clean. I was thinking of doing a short workshop of do-in(self massage) to warm up and then a bit of belly dancing. The bigger the belly the better - so I reckon the men have a good chance of being able to wobble as many bits as us of the female persuasion. Patrish PS it all clean healthy fun |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Patrish(inactive) Date: 11 Sep 00 - 08:22 AM Skipjack K8, sorry to disappoint you - no orgies, unless its an orgy of singing, playing, drinking and laughter. Patrish |

Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Patrish(inactive) Date: 11 Sep 00 - 05:41 AM I have an idea for a bit of fun on Fri/Sat night or whenever. Can everyone bring a square or triangular scarf big enough to go round their biggest bits. Patrish |

Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Llanfair Date: 08 Sep 00 - 03:23 PM Talking to Julia at Pippins today, and there is still one room and a mobile home not booked yet. Their rates are very reasonable, and the food is wonderful!! I'm pretty sure there is still room at the Red lion as well. Don't forget that there is ample caravan space for those who like to play with trains, and some flat(ish) camping space. I can put up some people, and there's floor space at the pub. Five weeks to go!!! Bron. |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Skipjack K8 Date: 08 Sep 00 - 04:35 AM I've never seen a dog in a sleeping bag, nor even a dog in negotiations over merits of tent architecture. This is going to be one helluva party! Skipjack |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Llanfair Date: 07 Sep 00 - 04:06 PM Oh, what a shame!!! I was looking forward to meeting you all, and I'd organised the caravan space and everything! perhaps next year. Regards, Bron. |

Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Catrin Date: 06 Sep 00 - 01:26 PM Ooooh! A singaround round a piano! Getting better and better |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Llanfair Date: 06 Sep 00 - 12:03 PM Noreen, I've checked at the Institute today, and there IS a piano, AND they have it tuned once a year. General Interest. There is something of a stir in the town today. The front page of the local evening paper carried an article about the Institute front door key being MISSING. It's about 8" long and is the original from 1908, when the place was opened. It will cost hundreds to replace, and no-one has any idea where it could have gone. Local opinion is that it may have something to do with the Young Farmer's rave on Friday night, and that the key now lies at the bottom of the Banwy river. As you can see, Llanfair Caereinion has it's share of crime and vandalism. We sincerely hope that it remains at this level!!!I don't think they ever locked the door, anyway!! Bron. |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: GUEST,KingBrilliant Date: 06 Sep 00 - 09:11 AM Cheers Micca. Sleeping bags + duvets ought to be OK? Kris |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: GUEST,micca at work Date: 06 Sep 00 - 07:29 AM The tent is not the Crucial point but a 3 season or, better still, a 4 season sleeping bag may be the real clincher. Warmth at night is all, when camping( and a dry sleeping bag) |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: GUEST,KingBrilliant Date: 06 Sep 00 - 07:23 AM Noni sends a big wag, and asks what's a melodeon then? She used to have a hearing dog - she and Jake used to run around the park chained together so that we could call them both back (it was a short chain so they didn't mow too many people down). Now we have to use sign language if she happens to be looking at us - failing that we con the kid into running to fetch her. I've got the car situation sorted out now, so I've got transport - and Mark is half-persuaded. Can anyone confirm for me whether a canvas bell tent will be a lot warmer than a nylon ridge tent in mid-october? It may be crucial to negotiations! Kris |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Patrish(inactive) Date: 06 Sep 00 - 06:13 AM Bill, I'm sure you don't mean "bloody melodeons" _ I know how much you secretly like them Patrish |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: bill\sables Date: 06 Sep 00 - 06:05 AM She has one advantage in that she doesn't have to listen to those bloddy melodeons |

Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Liz the Squeak Date: 05 Sep 00 - 09:08 PM How about getting her one of those little hearing dogs for the deaf...... *BG* LTS |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: GUEST,KingBrilliant Date: 05 Sep 00 - 05:48 AM I'm getting really excited - but now I have the hard bit of persuading Mark..... I'll start working on that right away. Should I try being really nice, or just wack straight in with the arm-twisting? I'll only bring the hound if I can't get her fed & watered easily at home (tho she would be a useful hot-water-bottle in the tent). Its funny how different dogs are isn't it? Noni is rediculously placid. I think it comes from being deaf - she is so used to not hearing things coming that nothing surprises her or worries her.Her only problem is that she sometimes gets snapped at by other dogs because she can't hear a warning growl. On the plus side, she doesn't have to listen to Amoret & I singing! Kris |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Llanfair Date: 04 Sep 00 - 03:19 PM This is excellent!! Kingbrilliant, the landlady at the Red Lion is putting her dogs in kennels for the weekend, so there shouldn't be a problem, 'specially if he's well behaved. My two dogs will stay at home because they get all over-excited when they meet new people, and Benson is scared of children-no idea why, he's never had a nasty experience. they call ceilighs twmpath here, it means hillock. and that's where the musicians played whilst people danced. Just thought I'd share.....Bron. |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Skipjack K8 Date: 04 Sep 00 - 10:13 AM It was the other 98% he was worried about, Patrish! Skipjack |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Patrish(inactive) Date: 04 Sep 00 - 10:00 AM Bill made a point to me at whitby this year - he really loves melodeons - the more the merrier, infact he said I could not come to the gathering unless I brought my melodeon. Patrish |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Skipjack K8 Date: 04 Sep 00 - 09:49 AM Bron, I was waiting for Bill The Backslash Sables to reply, but in his absence, I will. Bill will probably call if there isn't another available. I'm up to play for the dance; I play the odd ceilidh for Bill. The tune changes when he kicks you in the shins. Skipjack |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: GUEST,KingBrilliant Date: 04 Sep 00 - 09:18 AM Hi, I'm still trying to work out whether we'll be able to make it or not (X-fingers) - but I just wondered whether if we do come we would be able to bring our dog. We'd be camping, and its not essential to bring her (she can stay at home & get fed by my parents along with the mnay cats & gerbils), but some places you can & some you can't so I just wondered... Are dogs allowed in the pub and/or hall? She's a festival-dog (big lazy hound, stone-deaf from a puppy & just goes to sleep). Kris |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Llanfair Date: 03 Sep 00 - 06:04 PM Oh, Noreen, what a bummer!!, I'd love to see her live. Daresay I'll get the chance soon, and we did get to see her dad, didn't we. I'll check out the piano. If there isn't one, will a synthesizer do? I don't think we'll get my harmonium up the stairs!!! Have we got a caller? Bron. |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Noreen Date: 03 Sep 00 - 04:44 PM Catrin & I are taking up Pippins' hospitality, Bron, cheque in the post in the morning. Now, Eliza Carthy and band are good enough to come and play in little old Bury (not many people come here, you understand), but when does she choose to come? 13th October when I'll be otherwise engaged! Noreen |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Morticia Date: 03 Sep 00 - 02:20 PM Wow...this is getting bigger and bigger ( as the actress said).....Say, I've an idea kids....lets do the show right here!!*BG*..Steve and I are performers,Bron.....as the local constabulary will testify. |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Liz the Squeak Date: 03 Sep 00 - 11:18 AM Manitas will play in the ceilidh band, he does it a lot.... I don't do the dancing thing, not without major intake of alcohol and an oxygen unit on standby. I'm beginning to look forward to this too, lots of good festivals started with friends getting together in a village hall..... LTS |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Noreen Date: 03 Sep 00 - 09:52 AM Great idea, Bill, this gets better and better! Bron, is there a usable piano in the hall at all for the use of said scratch ceili band? Noreen (ex Liverpool Ceili Band pianist) |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: bill\sables Date: 03 Sep 00 - 09:05 AM Bron, put me down for your all day folk club. There should be enough musicians for a scratch ceileidh band so is that a posibility for the Saturday Evening. Cheers Bill |
Subject: RE: UK Gathering II From: Llanfair Date: 03 Sep 00 - 05:54 AM Well, isn't that clever!!! Everything you need is in that first map, I told you it's a tiny town!! my postcode is SY21 OQS, and I'll collect the others today. I'm very impressed!!! Bron. |
