Subject: RE: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS on the telly From: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS Date: 02 Apr 08 - 04:49 AM too much! I think it's about £2 a ride. It's cheaper on the donkeys |
Subject: RE: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS on the telly From: Geoff the Duck Date: 01 Apr 08 - 06:48 PM What's a ticket for the rides at Barry Island cost these days. Not been there since around 1980/81? Just wondering... Quack! Geoff. |

Subject: RE: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS on the telly From: sian, west wales Date: 01 Apr 08 - 02:30 PM "Come from where you are over by ther' to where I is over by'ere: I don't want to take you 'ome lost." Reportedly the admonition of a Welsh mam to her kids on Porthcawl beach, miners' fortnight excursion. sian |

Subject: RE: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS on the telly From: Splott Man Date: 01 Apr 08 - 11:51 AM See, I lives by yer, right? But Barry is over by there. An' don' ferge' to roll the "r"s in Barry too an'all. |
Subject: RE: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS on the telly From: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS Date: 01 Apr 08 - 11:41 AM I beg your pardon Jane I would say 'half tidy' - that's much better than 'tidy'! |
Subject: RE: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS on the telly From: Mrs.Duck Date: 01 Apr 08 - 10:12 AM Oh, its one of the best written comedies I've ever seen and, to be honest with you, to add Patti to it just makes it 'tidy'! |
Subject: RE: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS on the telly From: Cats Date: 01 Apr 08 - 09:21 AM Dreckly is a time of its own! |
Subject: RE: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS on the telly From: Splott Man Date: 01 Apr 08 - 07:55 AM How could I forget "now"? I'll do it after - also means later Now in a minute - somewhere in between now and after (but more urgent than the Cornish "dreckly") |
Subject: RE: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS on the telly From: pavane Date: 01 Apr 08 - 04:00 AM I'll do it now = I'll do it later Yessi Mawr DOES NOT mean You Great Jessie, but 'great Jesus' |
Subject: RE: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS on the telly From: Splott Man Date: 01 Apr 08 - 03:50 AM In south Wales we say "Where's it to?" when looking for something. "Tidy" is "Very good". "(H)'alf Tidy" is "Very, very good". "Cowing Luscious" or "Lush" is "Excellent". "Iss Dooin' my 'ead in" is "It's getting on my nerves". "I'll ge' my Nan on you!" when addressing an annoying person. More to follow |
Subject: RE: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS on the telly From: sian, west wales Date: 31 Mar 08 - 06:22 PM It occurs to me, having just watched the latest Gavin & Stacy episode, that perhaps we should set up a help line for any foreign Catters who might watch via the internet. I'm sure Welsh catters would volunteer to handle the Baaaaarrrry translations; who do we have down Essex way (Gavin is an Essex boy, isn't he? I'm not too au fait with foreign parts.) to help out? sian |
Subject: RE: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS on the telly From: Cats Date: 31 Mar 08 - 11:55 AM Hate to tell you this, Pattie, but Jon couldn't take his eyes off you either ~ there again, he had to or you never know where the wires would have ended up. |
Subject: RE: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS on the telly From: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS Date: 31 Mar 08 - 11:41 AM I remember that one. It was the music hall concert. I found some red and black lacy babydoll pyjamas in a charity shop in Sidmouth for 50p and that was my 'costume'. Jon wired me up in the Ham car park and a man walking by couldn't take his eyes of us and walked straight into a big van! We played the Can Can and I flashed. |
Subject: RE: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS on the telly From: Bonnie Shaljean Date: 31 Mar 08 - 07:48 AM Ah, so EPNS actually stands for Electrically-Played Nimble Spoons... |
Subject: RE: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS on the telly From: Cats Date: 31 Mar 08 - 07:12 AM Yes Dave, and Jon once helped wire her up in a car park. I won't tell you where the wires went!!!!! |
Subject: RE: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS on the telly From: Dave Hunt Date: 31 Mar 08 - 07:07 AM Ah - but will she be playing the electric spoon - I kid you not! Once when she was doing a show with me she had a set wired to lights on her head, whenever the spoons made contact it completed the circuit and the lights lit - wonderful idea!! Dave |
Subject: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS on the telly From: Splott Man Date: 31 Mar 08 - 04:39 AM Her worship will be appearing on the award winning Gavin & Stacey on BBC3 either this coming Sunday (6th) or the next (13th). She can be seen with members of the Cardiff band Pluck & Squeeze, calling a dance, and also (hold your breath!) performing a Line Dance. She will be signing autographs at Crediton Festival. |
