Subject: RE: BS: What do you collect ?? From: Claire M Date: 03 Jun 13 - 02:37 PM Hiya, I got rocks in my bed! I now have said bag. It is stunning. I am now a proper grown-up woman. The logo (which means nothing to my flatmates) is silver & covered with leaves. When people see anything to do with Steeleye, they instantly think it's mine. I've got so many books I've started getting ones I want in pdf cos I'm not good with £££ & half the time I can never get them– I only read books once, then pass them on. No non-fiction cos it bores me. Oh, forgot, I'm a huge fan of Retro programmes, started off by Life On Mars. |
Subject: RE: BS: What do you collect ?? From: Bill D Date: 03 Jun 13 - 12:19 PM A 'collection' means something basically organized and documented. Then there is an 'accumulation'. I accumulate samples of odd woods for all over the world.... and folk music books and records/CDs... and I used to accumulate beer cans & bottles, but as some know, I've been getting rid of the originals and accumulating digital photos of them |

Subject: RE: BS: What do you collect ?? From: Mooh Date: 03 Jun 13 - 08:17 AM banjoman...You, Sir, are my hero. Peace, Mooh. |
Subject: RE: BS: What do you collect ?? From: banjoman Date: 03 Jun 13 - 07:30 AM Just counted them -its up to 29 plus one under repair - we really do need a bigger house or the banjos will have to go. |
Subject: RE: BS: What do you collect ?? From: Rapparee Date: 02 Jun 13 - 10:58 PM Well, perhaps I should admit that I've cataloged 1,593 books from my office. This does not count my wife's rather extensive collection or "our" collection. I guess you could say I collect knowledge. Oh, and that doesn't include the LPs, cassette tapes, reel-to-reel tapes, and CDs and DVDs. |
Subject: RE: BS: What do you collect ?? From: Mooh Date: 02 Jun 13 - 06:55 PM Guitars, generally, and guitar stuff. Mandolins, banjos, basses, ukuleles. Gold Tone products, 4 banjos and a Weissenborn. It just kind of happened. Other stringed instruments. Used to collect fishing lures but after discovering that a select few were the most productive I kind of got stalled. However, sometimes I can't resist...hook, line, and sinker...sucked in. Major weakness for pocket knives. Peace, Mooh. |
Subject: RE: BS: What do you collect ?? From: gnu Date: 02 Jun 13 - 02:45 PM Actually... apathy. When I can arsed to get to it. |
Subject: RE: BS: What do you collect ?? From: GUEST,HiLo Date: 02 Jun 13 - 01:05 PM Old penguin paperbacks, small telescopes , watches, and a few other odds n sods. Rhodos, I have dozens in my garden, each is different, spectacular in spring. Interesting thread...thanks for starting it. |

Subject: RE: BS: What do you collect ?? From: gnu Date: 02 Jun 13 - 08:31 AM Hehehee! Yeah... I got rocks... in me head. |
Subject: RE: BS: What do you collect ?? From: Bat Goddess Date: 02 Jun 13 - 08:26 AM Rubber squid, flamingoes seem to follow me home, but I don't actively collect them, printing and typographical stuff. Oh, and then there's the books. Amazing how there's room for anything else, considering the books. I've got rocks, too -- some of them from significant (to me) places. And fossils (I mean, other than Curmudgeon...) and shells and skulls and an accumulation of wild turkey feathers. Linn |
Subject: RE: BS: What do you collect ?? From: gnu Date: 02 Jun 13 - 07:22 AM Dust. Well, someone had to say it... and I gave you all long enough to do so. |
Subject: RE: BS: What do you collect ?? From: kendall Date: 02 Jun 13 - 06:08 AM I also collect rocks. Fools gold from California, a stone from Daniel Boone's grave, one from Hadrian's wall, a chunk of marble from the old PO where my office used to be. The story is too long and few people would be interested in hearing it. |
Subject: RE: BS: What do you collect ?? From: Wesley S Date: 01 Jun 13 - 11:53 PM I have a few old comic books. And I irritate my wife by picking up - and taking home - rocks from interesting places I visit. |
Subject: RE: BS: What do you collect ?? From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 01 Jun 13 - 11:26 PM too much! but it is all interesting! briefly - crafty stuff - fabric, yarn, felt, stuff to decorate felt & fabric. small things - penguins, sheeps, old christmas decorations, other small things. old jigsaws. needlework tools & old embroideries etc. Japanese stuff etc. |
Subject: RE: BS: What do you collect ?? From: Rapparee Date: 01 Jun 13 - 10:47 PM Lumps. Over the years I've collected lots and lots of lumps. Lumps on my head, lumps on my face, lumps in my pants. I will freely share them with anyone interested. I also collect bills. I've tried to collect US dollars, but instead I collect bills from places like the electric company, credit cards, and others. These I will also freely share. |
Subject: RE: BS: What do you collect ?? From: gnu Date: 01 Jun 13 - 08:46 PM Dear concerned... I am concerned about you. Were you a lonely boy? If you need someone to listen to why you have these feelings and have a need to post these comments which reflect angst and confusion in your life, be consoled with the fact that I am here for you. Heed my advice and you will find comfort... fuck off idiot. |

Subject: RE: BS: What do you collect ?? From: GUEST,concerend Date: 01 Jun 13 - 08:27 PM even sadder......it must have costs loads to the the Betty Ford thingy.. at least when you sold all of your crap on you had a bob or two |
Subject: RE: BS: What do you collect ?? From: Bobert Date: 01 Jun 13 - 08:19 PM I went thru Betty Ford about 15 years ago but before that: ***old toasters (had dozens on 'um)... ***old car parts (had thousands of them)... ***old doilies and drawn-work (had hundreds of 'um)... When we moved I sold 90% of my collection at an auction, which included hundred and hundreds of other things I had collected during my addiction... If you were to look at my office you'd think that I had never completed Betty Ford but this ain't nuthin'... B~ |

Subject: BS: What do you collect ?? From: Claire M Date: 01 Jun 13 - 02:31 PM Hiya, I've known & do know quite a few collectors of various things & was wondering what you collect. 1. Anything to do with Steeleye Span. It's getting increasingly difficult now, but a woman I see as an adopted relative is making me a bag with one of their logos on as an early bday present. 2. Jewellery. Usually copper, but I also like wood, brass or fused glass. I can't wear anything too heavy, & don't like the idea of wearing jewellery you can't take off. 3.Fantasy novels. I love folklore – charm making, sacred jewellery etc. I've a sign on my "flat's" door saying "Leonaidh mi a h-uile duine, Cha leoin duine mi. That means "Wound can I every man, wound can no man me" |
