I'd answer some as:

1. Dublin (city, in the rare old times)
3. There are several contenders for place (Holy Ground)
5. Revenge (for Skibbereen)
8. Dingle (Red-haired Mary)
19. Star (of the county Down)

Several others come to mind, but I have to get to work.

Just to help when I am allocating the prize, please indicate in your answers the relevant musical allusion(as it is possible to get some answers with guess work).

Answers to this thread please. A prize will be awarded, not necessarily to the person who gets most answers right: as the questions vary wildly in difficulty, I may do a little weighting. The rather precise theme will be very helpful when you've spotted it.
Question 4 is unfair, and downright misleading.

1: Where British stags enjoy some rare ould times.
2: United lads trying to break some galling chains.
3:Reputed location of a hallowed place.
4: Where they were proud of the Flying Cloud.
5: Where you'll a noisy shout of "Revenge"
6: One end of a Count's line.
7: 48 bars and a lot of yachts.
8: Home of a sweet-smelling Mary
9:Good place for viewing 11 and 12.
10: There was an old fellow from ----
11:May be seen to advantage from 9
12: may be seen to advantage from 9.
13:Good place for viewing lunar and solar events,
14: A minor classic, pure and popular with Coleman and any session player.
15: Go here for a bottle of wine and a roll in the grass with Mary.
16:Other end of 6's line.
17: A handsome boatman will take you there.
18:Millicent's favourite place.
19:Stellar object, superior to those of 1,6,13,16 and 20.
20:Back home at the other end of a Count's line from 13.

Good luck
