These old kid's shows even had songs for their commercials. Anybody out there remember Uncle Johnny Coons? He was a Chicago show that went national for a couple of years.

When I was teaching Kindergarten, there was a little boy who's family was quite religious and did not believe in watching TV. The only time Steven watched television was when he stayed at his cousin's house. One day, he asked me if Popeye was a Bad Cartoon? It's called "The Birthday Cake Polka" Just scroll down the page and click on where it reads in purple. You'll hear it in RealPlayer. But you'll have to wordprocess the words yourselves. I had to run it at least seven times to get it just right.
   I always wanted to know what all the words were to that. It's my favorite birthday song.

As one of the oldest still active radio deejays, I have a need to find an audio copy of the Mickey Mouse Club song used as their "goodbye" theme. However, and I know this sounds "picky", I can only use the version of this that was included as a track on an Annette Funicello Album about 1962, I think. It's the one that ends, "M-I-C---K-E-Y----M-O-U-S-E----Forever Let us hold our banners highhhhh" I hope this is good enough to be as specific as I need for this. If anyone might somehow have this old viny album in their collection, and would be willing to either transfer that track to a CD, or just sell me the album that song is on, please let me know. It will be of great assistance to me in continuing my 57 years, and counting, radio disk jockey career.

I may even have known that at one time. But indoctrination at an early age has a tendency to resurface. When you're six years old and you have only one sibling, and she's five years, six months and seven days older than you, and she tells you that it's "half rag", and explains that if you divide a square wash rag in two diagonally you get a triangular piece that looks like a Christmas tree - you have one of two options: 1) Believe 2) Get the holy crap knocked out of you. Needless to say, I sang "half rag" - and believed.

I'll have to call my sister and let her know how wrong she was all those years ago, but I'm sure it won't help. I may be fifty seven now, but she's still five years, six months and seven days older than I am. She can no longer beat the crap out of me, but she can retreat to the ultimate and unassailable older sibling argument: "I never said that, you must have dreamed it".

Which cartoon show was it? I'll give you a hint-it starts with the word "mighty".

Actually, I'm not sure if this show had a theme song or not. But it was a kid's show, and I can still remember two lines that someone used to sing about this character. That must have come from a theme song, right?

The two lines are "Here I come to save the day! That means that ____ ____ is on his way."

Have you guessed who this character is yet?

I'm also curious about that line. Having never heard that song, I'd second the vote that it probably was "hat rack"

Of course, a 'half rag' could refer to ragtime music, but I don't think that makes sense in the context of that song.

You obviously haven't had the pleasure of hearing a bunch of 2-3 yr olds all screaming the theme tune to "Bob the Builder".

I remember the theme tunes from (amongst many others) Jamie and the magic torch, chorlton and the wheelies and of course the voice over to bagpuss.
