Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's bad news (May 2009) From: curmudgeon Date: 02 Jun 09 - 05:59 PM The "breach" quoted is filthier than a howitzer, to wit, the walls of Harfleur, a crude opening in a stone fortification, full of dirt and dust, blood and feces, and all manner of rats and vermin. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's bad news (May 2009) From: catspaw49 Date: 02 Jun 09 - 05:47 PM "So, Once more into the breach!" Well geeziz Kendall......There's your whole problem right there! What kind of Doc do you have anyway? You have a tumor that needs removed and it needs to be done in an operating room and not a breach! That's the dumbest damn thing I ever heard! I guess you may not know this but your Doctor should. Operating rooms are sterile environments whereas a breach has probably got a lot of residual gunpowder and acids associated with the shell's combustion and has got to be very dangerous in terms of future infection and other complications. My advice would be to get the tumor removed properly by a Doc that can tell the difference between an operating theater and a Howitzer. I'm surprised you're this friggin' stupid.......damn................ Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's bad news (May 2009) From: Will Fly Date: 31 May 09 - 06:30 AM Micca - come down to Sussex this autumn and you can have a sack of apples from my tree - it's a "Crawley Beauty", an old Sussex apple variety. Makes beautiful crumbles and pies, and is a sharp eater as well. The tree fruits every other year, and this year - from the amount of blossom - looks to be a good one. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's bad news (May 2009) From: Micca Date: 30 May 09 - 04:04 PM maeve I suspect what makes them impressive (to me) is probably your choice of apple, here in the UK they frequently use Bramleys!! (YeChhhh) which are fine for apple sauce , but in a pie the go sludgy and mushy and are sort of fluid slop fillings and are too sweet also. Last time I made apple pie I used a mixture Coxs orange pippins and Granny Smiths (at the green tart stage)it was closer to the kind of firmness of filling and tartness of taste that I crave in apple pie more like the German Apfelkuchen with firm chunks of apple. |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's bad news (May 2009) From: kendall Date: 30 May 09 - 02:37 PM A real "punch up" over a piece of pie? I thought Canadians were more civilized! |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's bad news (May 2009) From: gnu Date: 30 May 09 - 12:58 PM Ma Mere's pies were not so bad. She used Me Pere's recipe, a master baker who passed away when I was a wee one. The LeBlanc family sold 5" apple, blueberry and raisin pies in their "corner store" for 15p each when I was a lad. I recall seeing my first real scrap when I was about 4 years old. The pop guy had bought the last pie and put it on the seat of his truck. The chip guy took the pie and put 50p on the seat. What a fight! Me Mere called the cops and the lads were in bad shape by the time the cops arrived. Both of them were marched off to jail by a very large Tete Rouge (Irish) after he gave the 50p and the pie to Me Mere. Yup, she gave me the pie. |
