Subject: RE: BS: Muslims again . . . but positive From: Brian May Date: 25 Sep 11 - 04:56 PM Oh dear, I didn't want to spark off another round of arguments. I just wanted to acknowledge bravery and dedication being exercised for good in an area where too often it's viewed as ONLY radical. If only, in the interests of fairness. Anyway. All done from me. |
Subject: RE: BS: Muslims again . . . From: akenaton Date: 25 Sep 11 - 04:22 PM I have no particular antipathy to any religion, being a lifelong atheist. I am simply commenting on the world as I see it at this time. Western capitalism and its tool "democracy" have become the victims of their own greed and materialism and what is waiting to exact its revenge for centuries of exploitation? Be afraid.....be VERY afraid! |

Subject: RE: BS: Muslims again . . . From: MGM·Lion Date: 25 Sep 11 - 03:45 PM I know of the 'many voices of moderation', & it would be boorish not to be aware of them and grateful for them. But I feel that, just as good news doesn't sell papers, so 'voices of moderation' are not going to be those with most appeal to the more militant tendencies within Islamism; whose presence and activities are those most likely to produce the most cogent effects. I should like to be optimistic, and hope I don't come over as quite so hostile or pessimistic as Ake ~~ BUT... |
Subject: RE: BS: Muslims again . . . From: akenaton Date: 25 Sep 11 - 03:37 PM Dont be fooled, it is indeed a battle to the death. Western style "democracy" is a real and present threat to Islam. They know that, and more importantly they cannot be "bought" |
Subject: RE: BS: Muslims again . . . From: artbrooks Date: 25 Sep 11 - 10:57 AM It is often important to remind ourselves that there is no singular "voice of Islam", akin to the Pope. Like American evangelicals, the leader of each congregation is totally independent. That said, Dr. ul-Qadri is one of many voices of moderation in the Muslim community. |

Subject: BS: Muslims again . . . From: Brian May Date: 25 Sep 11 - 07:20 AM Having started a really long thread on Muslim Prejudice earlier this year . . . Deep respect and kudos to Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. Having been branded a bigot etc (and worse) by people who had their own agenda (despite evidence to the contrary), I had always said that the silence from the 'Silent Majority' was deafening. I also said, until they exercise their voice, Islam would be treated with deep suspicion. The gentleman above deserves all the assistance and respect we, religious or secular to promote HIS understanding and teaching of Islam. He shines out as an example of how it should be portrayed and puts many radical Christians to shame too. It is SOo good for all of us (dare I say) 'normal' UK citizens to see a Muslim who is acting within the tenets of the Islamic ethos - the proper one of peace and respect - to ALL. HE and his followers are MOST welcome in my country. |
