Subject: RE: Obit: Little John Cameron From: GUEST,Taliesn Date: 11 Oct 02 - 01:07 PM With all this gentle memorializing I was wondering when it would occur to some of his afficianadoes here to cut & paste some of their favorite posts of this well-remembered soul so that others can may enjoy what made him so memorableand so dear to y'all. Just quote the passages of the humor & poetry of the man from whence he was among you and let his own "best" words continue to breathe life into his signature character. I'll quote a line from dearly missed master artist Jimhensen's favorite filmwork,"The Dark Crystal" in defining what written words are: " Writing is words that stay". I leave you with this gentle suggestion. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Little John Cameron From: Jimmy C Date: 11 Oct 02 - 12:10 PM This is terrible news. He and his humour will be sadly missed. We shared a few gigs years ago in Toronto. Rest in peace wee man. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Little John Cameron From: weepiper Date: 11 Oct 02 - 12:08 PM His last post was on the 4th of September. I think the illness came on very quickly from what I've read in the Bad News on ljc thread. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Little John Cameron From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 11 Oct 02 - 12:04 PM I'm a little confused. Can anyone explain the posting from LJC on the "Opus Dei" thread dated 07/15/02? Is some tasteless hoax being perpetrated? Seamus |

Subject: RE: Obit: Little John Cameron From: weepiper Date: 11 Oct 02 - 11:51 AM That's awfully sad news. LJC was always a ray of sunshine even when he was being sarcastic. What a loss to Mudcat. I'll play the Lament For The Old Sword for him later. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Little John Cameron From: Rick Fielding Date: 11 Oct 02 - 10:45 AM Farewell Johnnie Barr. Little John Cameron appeared to be a stage name, and he would hint (with a wink) at a wild and crazy upbringing across the pond....said he HAD to change his name, ha ha! Yep, we had some fine and funny times, and I'm glad we met again on Mudcat after so many years. In a few days perhaps I'll start a thread about some of John's adventures while he lived in Toronto. Things like "The haunted rooming house", "The Electric Landlady", "The revenge of the Montreal music fan", and of course "Big Kay, and the reluctant job-hunter"..........yup, he drew a bad hand this time, just as I almost did earlier this summer. Many thoughts about John whirling around at the moment, but he met my absolute main criteria for leaving a mark on this world...he was ORIGINAL, and he could laugh at himself! Cheers John Rick |

Subject: RE: Obit: Little John Cameron From: Dave the Gnome Date: 11 Oct 02 - 10:28 AM I came across a lovely piece on a funeral service sheet written for a young friend of mine some time ago. He has taken his big candle and gone away. We can't see the light any more but we know it is still there Shining in another room. I never knew John personaly but his rays of light in the often gloomy postings will certainly be missed. Cheers Dave the gnome |

Subject: Obit: Little John Cameron From: Jeri Date: 11 Oct 02 - 10:10 AM I don't want to start this thread, but I think it needs to be started and no one else wants to do it either. We don't want him to be gone. I enjoyed his scrappiness and the poetry and humor 'weeyin' brought to this place. I think ljc posted his own farewell message here in July: Death is nothing at all I have only slipped away into the next room I am I and you are you whatever we were to each other that we still are call me by my old familiar name speak to me in the easy way which you always used put no difference in your tone wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together pray smile, think of me, pray for me Let my name be ever the household word that it always was Let it be spoken without effort without the trace of a shadow in it Life means all that it ever meant it is the same as it ever was there is unbroken continuity why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you somewhere very near just around the corner All is well Henry Scott Holland (1847-1918) Many folks have posted in Bad News on ljc and 'The land o' the leal' for ljc Search for "ljc" threads |
