Which just shows to go you...a little rehearsal goes a long way....

Still, ain't no amount of rehearsal gonna get me in a poodle skirt. It would be too humilating for Mick to show me up in the legs department.

You only had to asked once last yr to 'ride round the pony' & the only gun I saw was in your pocket

It's not the wearing of the poodle skirt with the pink sequins Jaine, have you seen me dance since in my metal composite feet.

"He dances on deck on his toes of steel
Good-bye my lover goodbye
In his poodle skirt he turns like a wheel
Good-bye my lover good-bye"

Famous last words, compadre. But mebbe you should try "pre-emptive Doowop" and get yourself a duck's ass hairdo, a tee shirt with a pack of Luckies rolled up in the sleeve, and some major Ray Charles shades, maybe a black leather jacket and motorcycle boots for evenings....

And a tube of Wildroot Cream Oil.

If you see big ole Mick in a poodle skirt, you should look around for someone holdin' a pistol on him.....

ain't gonna happen. My dignity took a big enough hit last year...

Mick

OK, Barry. You get the skirt with the hot pink sequins and the lead vocal. Definitely trad music, so no problem there. (Note to Charlie Baum - best the Reverend director is not in the 'house')

Janie in a full body poodle suit with pom poms would bear a remarkable resemblance to King Kong.

Ah Mary great minds think alike. I actually found this clip this morning and was going to ask you about plans for this year. I remembered the DoWop theme....there's great potential here.... I'll help put things together once a song is in place....

Do we need a full Mudcat Song Challenge ??

Another thought - dress as your character might have in 1957. Sam Hall in a DA at the gallows. Barbara Allen in a poodle skirt.

Lest we forget:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCcvAYA84m0

A reminder to those inclined to throw caution to the wind, dress up in silly costumes and participate in the Saturday Night Ladies of the Club traditional (3rd year) extravaganza. This year I will be Costume Mistress (I did enjoy blowing up the boys last year). But I will be in the audience.
The theme is 50s Folk/Doo Wop
Take a traditional ballad and doowop it.

Who will head up the silliness?
Who's in?
Reminder to Carly and Linda. In the heat of the moment last year you agreed to participate and you will be held to it.
Who's writing a song for the event?

Remember time is limited so it will be one song in full or several snippets or a combination thereof.

Costumes: Poodle Skirts, 50s prom dresses, 50s tuxes, James Dean look anything. Anyone got a classic Chevy for a stage prop? Or a reasonable facsimile thereof?

Just as a matter of interest, I have a nice large tent...rain flap, zippers, stand up in the center.....if anyone really wants to try camping. I know some folks have warm sleeping bags and do this sort of thing. (we had a couple of folks pitch tents at Ramblewood several years ago, and they seemed to survive ok.)

Tents are fine. There's lots of flat space.
Just find someplace free of goose droppings. (And Andy at the center warned me that the geese can be fiercely territorial, so there's a warning when you choose your spot.)
No discount for tenters, though, because the camp still charges FSGW.

Jeri..Charlie Baum said last year that RVs were ok, but I find no answers anywhere specific to tents. There is LOTS of nice, flat space, but we'll have to check on whether they allow tents. (Next year we are back to October, so it might be even more relevant then.)

Just out of curiosity, do they allow people to set up tents?

to try to keep the program planning thread clear...

We are in a constant struggle to balance the most desirable qualities for a camp...cost, heat, capacity, dates, food, sleeping arrangements, spaces for concerts/workshops and accessibility for folks with handicaps of various sorts....we ALWAYS sacrifice one or two.
With West River, we have gained heated venues and flat, accessible spaces and sacrificed a bit in food (so far) and capacity & sleeping arangements. Next year, we get October date again....but there will always be small bedrooms with a lot of bunk beds, making capacity 'probably' around 170-180.

I wish it were easier...but those who climbed those hills in cold weather at Ramblewood may take some solace.
