Yes, Nick - great to see you too, and hope you can manage to come again.
It was indeed a really good night, with record attendance figures and some new faces (voices) joining the regulars (thanks for the continuing loyal support, you know who you are!)...
Looking forward already to next month's session, which will be on 28th April.

Refresh - for even though it didn't get a mention on the diary on Durbervilles' radio show this week (unlike their normal brilliant efficient selves), the session is still going ahead as normal tomorrow TUESDAY 31st MARCH, at the Black Bull, Birstall, start 8pm.
Come all ye, and have a good sing!!!

Anyone else planning to come? We may also be getting visitors up from Sheffield... the more the merrier!

I'm gigging in Tyneside Monday but if my eyeballs are not dropping out with fatigue I'll forget the guitar and try and get over on Tuesday. It's only a couple of miles from my daughters house.

Just a reminder refresher that this month's session will be on 31st - that's next Tuesday!
The clocks may go forward on Saturday night and we lose an hour, but you've until Tuesday to dust down those songs. Hope to see you all then. Welcome as ever.

Well it's the day after the night before - and we certainly had an enjoyable session despite a rather poor turnout (unexpectedly so, especially in view of the grand publicity given to us by the mighty Durbervilles' radio show!).
C'mon all you local singers, give us your support too next month, when we'll gather on 31st March (it's a longer month!)..

Thanks Dennis, it was good to see you - and hear your songs - on Tuesday. But what a pity that the turnout was well down on previous months.
Sadly, my voice hasn't lasted well since the session...

Meanwhile it would be good to see some more singers at December's Just Voices session, which will be held in the usual place on Tuesday 30th. The room is booked for the first half of 2015.

Pass the word..

Just a refresher/reminder - the session is taking place as booked next Tuesday, 30th December, and we're hoping to see a few more singers this time.

Especially in this fallow period between xmas and the new year when there's so little happening, why not make the effort and get out and sing!

Thanks for a good night last night, not many there but some great songs and singing.
With regards to the query regarding Eric Bogle singing Stan Rogers Lock Keeper, it is on his CD "At This Stage" Disc 1. This CD has introductions to each song which you can play separately or omit, once you have heard them a few times, a good idea, Eric states why he sings this song.

Thanks for clarifying and confirming the terminology, folks.

The March session was sparser-attended than the February one, but we welcomed a trio from Sheffield who made some cracking contributions to the night.

Looking forward to the next session, scheduled for Tuesday 29th April.
Hope you make it, Joe (yes, your card has been marked!), it's always great to see and hear you my friend! (Well, you did ask me to post this to remind you...)

The thing is most folkies seem to regard a session as an instrumentalists only event and as a singer I tend to aviod them as I believe do many others so I think it is always a good idea to specify the type if event as Dave does.
