Such as I had were all lost in a fire many years ago. For now, I would prefer to "see" those times and places through the mists of happy memory. I'm not sure that photos would be as kind. As the fellow said, when in doubt, "print the legend."

Suzy:

Suggest you contact Art Thieme, who has a number of excellent pictures in his collection that might suit. See also the recent threads here on Greenwich Village, which links to a number of photographic records of the Washignton Square era (actually probably early '60s).

Hi all,
I'm looking for photos from the late 1950s, of folk music parties or "hoots", especially ones that show people playing music together (vs. one person playing and everyone else listening). This is for possible use in a film being made by Chris Strachwitz and Yasha Aginsky about the New Lost City Ramblers, to give a picture of the folk music scene that was happening when the NLCR got going.

If you can help, please email me: suzy@ericandsuzy.com or send me a message. We will scan the photos (or you can) and nothing will be used without proper credit and permission.

Thanks,
Suzy Thompson
