Subject: RE: song info wanted: La plume de ma tante From: sharyn Date: 19 Feb 09 - 08:59 PM Thread creep: once in Canada a few years ago I heard a wonderful French song that was all the common French words Americans know strung together, like, "Menu, parlez vouz, s'il vous plait, raclette ..." Does anyone know the song I am talking about, who wrote it or where to find it? You can PM me or contribute to the thread creep here. |

Subject: RE: La plume de ma tante From: GUEST,Gerry Date: 18 Feb 09 - 05:35 PM Yes, pavane, that's the song. It says, Lyrics by: Al Hoffman, Dick Manning, whereas, according to the Internet Broadway Database, the musical had Lyrics: Ross Parker, Francis Blanche, so that's pretty good evidence that the song was not taken from the musical. Still, the song came out while the musical was running, leaving open the possibility that the former was "inspired" by the latter. |

Subject: La plume de ma tante From: GUEST,Gerry Date: 17 Feb 09 - 10:09 PM There was a pop tune in 1959 called La Plume de Ma Tante. It came out during the run of a Broadway musical of the same name. Was there any connection between the song and the musical? All my websearch efforts to join the two have failed to find any connection. |
