Subject: RE: BS: Easyjet make passengers wait in hot sun From: Bonzo3legs Date: 16 Sep 09 - 01:57 PM I don't think Easyjet aircraft stay long on the tarmac, I should think that their turnaround time is less than 1 hour. |
Subject: RE: BS: Easyjet make passengers wait in hot sun From: mg Date: 14 Sep 09 - 04:16 PM I don't know about this incident..but in general there is no excuse for an airport not having contingency plans for planes sitting for long hours on tarmac..certainly some porta-potties on the ground, a cleanout of toilets before flight if time allows..some food supplies, water...perhaps some free inflight movies..but sanitation and food and water should come first...an enclosed area outside the plane..either in terminal or outside on tarmac..patrolled by security if necessary...for people to get out and walk, children to get to move ...enclosure must be very tight of course. mg |
Subject: RE: BS: Easyjet make passengers wait in hot sun From: VirginiaTam Date: 14 Sep 09 - 03:48 PM Cheap flights are more damaging to the environment than more expensive ones? Please explain. The price conrols the demand. Cheaper flights means more demand which means more flights, which means more pollution and in so many ways. Fuel production, transport of fuel, all the duty free junk production and transport, catering. It's a knock on effect. No brainer that! |

Well done! That's exactly what I was thinking. There are no security cameras in a jetway as far as I can see, but speed is the trick. |

Subject: RE: BS: Easyjet make passengers wait in hot sun From: Folkiedave Date: 14 Sep 09 - 04:31 AM I do refuse to travel with Whine on Air. Squeezy jet is much better and I too have had a few good experiences with Monarch. |
Subject: RE: BS: Easyjet make passengers wait in hot sun From: VirginiaTam Date: 14 Sep 09 - 03:23 AM Sorry Mr. Bonzo, didn't mean to offend. Just parrotting what I have heard. He did praise Monarch for amenities. And he still prefers to use Monarch. I don't fly much. A trip home to US from the UK once every 2-3 years. And I pay for one trip halfway between visits for my daughter to come to UK. That is the extent of my flying. I don't believe in cheaps flights because of what they do to the environment. On the other hand, I have to save for so long before I can fly home or fly my daughter here. That's the breaks I have to deal with. Costs may be better when we can travel any time of year. Partner is a lecturer so we are tied to school holidays which are more expensive. |
Subject: RE: BS: Easyjet make passengers wait in hot sun From: MudGuard Date: 13 Sep 09 - 08:52 AM at least easy didn't charge the passengers for using their outdoor sun studio ;-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Easyjet make passengers wait in hot sun From: Bonzo3legs Date: 13 Sep 09 - 07:27 AM "Seems a lot of price snobs about at present." I regard the flight as an important part of a holiday. I prefer to spend my money on a flight with a more upmarket airline with more in flight comfort and in the company of gente como uno than for instance buying expensive rounds of drinks in pubs throughout the year, in the company in the company of gente no como uno! |

Subject: RE: BS: Easyjet make passengers wait in hot sun From: Bonzo3legs Date: 12 Sep 09 - 01:57 PM "Former colleague used to work for Monarch and owns stock. Claims they were once the best, but now not. Especially for safety and environmetally one of the worst." I beg to disagree, but they have surely shown their "metal" each time we have flown, and they serve a jolly good lunch too. |

Subject: RE: BS: Easyjet make passengers wait in hot sun From: Bonzo3legs Date: 12 Sep 09 - 06:53 AM There were not many planes on the ground at the time, in fact our Monarch flight left 10 minutes early. I thoroughly recommend Monarch, especially with longer leg room seats which provide more space than BA Club Europe. |
Subject: RE: BS: Easyjet make passengers wait in hot sun From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 11 Sep 09 - 06:33 PM Here's a picture of what appears to be an EasyJet plane being serviced by a jetway (enclosed gangway) at Alicante airport. Whether that's evidence that Bonzo3legs' photo is an exception, instead of the rule, I have no idea. But it definitely shows that not all EasyJet passengers flying out of Alicante have to wait in the sun. Maybe a jetway was malfunctioning. Maybe delays caused there to be more planes on the ground than there were jetways to handle. Who knows? |
Subject: RE: BS: Easyjet make passengers wait in hot sun From: GUEST,Spidey Bobe Date: 11 Sep 09 - 04:52 PM I've seen that happen for other Easyjet passengers, but it does serve them right for flying on he cheap! |
Subject: RE: BS: Easyjet make passengers wait in hot sun From: VirginiaTam Date: 11 Sep 09 - 04:50 PM Thank you Gervase, just what I was thinking on the carbon footprint. |

The folks standing out in the sun - probably 33-34C, were waiting to walk out to the Easyjet aircraft visible in the photo. It's amazing what lengths such airlines will go to save money!! |
