Miller can be extremely astute and insightful, but he can and does turn a lot of people off with sheer "anti-whatever to appear same".

He doesn't seem to know where to draw the line between comedy, insight and flapping his mouth.

Overall, I really like the guy, but he often goes "too far" for his own good.

I think that Wanda's humor is a little too concentrated for a weekly show. She needs a couple of less powerful comedians on the show to fill time and build up to her stuff. Or maybe a hapless fool to give a counterpoint. Glenn Beck is busy. But I haven't seen Dennis Miller or Tucker Carlson around in a while.

I hope they get it ironed out, too. I really enjoyed the monologues and was so-so with the rest until she went to Wanda's Bar and sat down to talk with her guests. That seemed really awkward and was not funny, so I turned it off.

I loved the monologue, Gnu. I consider the show well worth watching at least for that part of it. I hope they get everything figured out, too, because she's one of my favorite comics, and I'd like to see her have a show at least as good as Craig Ferguson's, who is another of my favorites.

Oh dear. I haven't watched it yet. I hope it was just a case of opening night jitters. Even is it wasn't as good as some of the above reviews, I shall continue to watch/tape it for at least a half dozen episodes.

I was disappointed with the show too...watched a little bit of it and then turned it off. Too bad because most of the time I find her to be freakin' hysterical!

I love Wanda Sykes and admire what she does, but that show was awful. Her pacing seemed off, the set was awkward, everyone seemed uncomfortable and forced, the recorded bits weren't very funny (recycling dildos - great joke but they went on and on and on till they sucked all the humor out of it) - the show dragged. I'm glad she does what she does, but they need to give her a chance with a better format and a better staff. She has way too much talent to be saddled with such a crappy show.

Actually, I think I read your question wrong, Michael. It's the same Rupert Murdoch, but it's not the same FOX. The right-wing nutcase FOX is only available on cable and it has a lot of "news" (propaganda) and talking head shows. The FOX that Wanda is on is entirely entertainment, like cartoons and old movies. The only news it has is local news a couple of times a day.

Probably, but Wanda just burned the right-wing nutcases a brand new asshole on her show (and she did it really well, too), so the question of who owns the network seems to be irrelevant to the content and quality of the show.

Her monologue was brilliant and we laughed almost non-stop during it. I wish she was doing a more typical format for the show, though, and just had a monologue and maybe one or two other scripted things, and then she just interviewed guests like other talk show hosts do. Her show seems to be fairly scripted all the way through, and it lost a lot of its appeal for us after the monologue was finished.

It is on our cable, the same one which carries the Simpsons and it does not come on until 10p, here.

The FOX that Wanda's show is on is not a cable network. This means that people who don't have cable (like us) can watch it. Most people with cable have broadcast networks like ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX entertainment, and PBS as a part of their cable packages, so people with Cable would be able to watch it also.

It's not FOX NEWS. It's the FOX entertainment channel, which is broadcast and not cable - the same one that has The Simpsons.
