Subject: RE: Thought for the Day (July 29) From: catspaw49 Date: 29 Jul 99 - 10:42 AM I hate to keep pushing Ol' Lenny Bruce, but he had one of his funniest bits about Christ and Moses arriving in present day New York and drivung through Harlem on the way to St. Pat's. Part of something he referred to as "Religions's Incorporated." Funny and tragic...the best of what humor is about. But I got a better thought for the day.................. I'M FINALLY GOING TO MEET A FELLOW 'CATTER !!!!!!! Cara from DC is here in Ohio visiting and we're going to meet for lunch today! Damn, I'm really excited......somehow this will prove this isn't some kind of weird dream, but we're all real!!!! Spaw |
Subject: RE: Thought for the Day (July 29) From: katlaughing Date: 29 Jul 99 - 10:23 AM Peter: Ever read the "Alleluia Affair"? Brilliant little book written in the 70's (I think) by an Episcopal priest. Read it in an hour. All the crucified Jesus(es) come alive and climb down off of all the crosses, in all of the churches etc., around the world. Go out among society clad as they were and are confronted with all of the disbelief, cynicism, & despair in the world. Goes on from there in an absolute indictment of society, a bit more, then stunning conclusion. I think the author's last name is Boyd. I'll check, tonight, when I am downstairs in the "library". |
