Subject: RE: requesting help: homeless fire survivors From: open mike Date: 27 Sep 10 - 02:11 PM last year a project to help build sheds for folks brought together construction students, contractors and materials to provide 12 sheds for people who lost their homes. I posted a video of it on my space. go to www.myspace.com and look for Laurelwoodsorrel or try this http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=51321578 Earlier this summer I put together a video showing some of the current conditions in the fire zone. Subject: RE: requesting help: homeless fire survivors From: open mike Date: 27 Sep 10 - 01:31 PM Voting continues til the end of the month. Please help us!! The Yankee Hill Fire Safe Council wants to help re-build 3 of the over 200 homes destroyed by fire. There were so many left homeless and displaced by this fire. If we can get to the top 100 it will be an advantage... do not give up...we are at 101! Only 3 more days.... remind all your friends, neighbors, relatives, mudcat, facebook and my space friends to join in the last minute push to make it in the top 100!! See Food and Shelter 250 K http://www.refresheverything.com/concowcabins or you can Vote from your mobile phone Text* 102510 to Pepsi (73774) There is a wonderful project that some volunteers have helped with to build a straw bale house for a family with 6 children. With this same community spirit you can offer your help from the comfort of your own home.. please vote every day so our project can be in the top 100. Thank you! We continue to consider ourselves fire SURVIVORS not fire VICTIMS---accentuate the positive!! |
Subject: RE: requesting help: homeless fire survivors From: maeve Date: 10 Sep 10 - 12:54 AM Very neat notion, Kat. I suspect we're pretty much on our own this time. Thanks for the thought. Back to Concow cabin project voting. Best regards, Laurel. Maeve |
Subject: RE: requesting help: homeless fire survivors From: katlaughing Date: 09 Sep 10 - 11:13 PM It's all relative, maeve. Your loss is no less for being one place. I wish there were something like that where you are, too. I *wish* we had a travelling Mudcat caravan which could start at your place with an old-fashioned clear-the-space and "barn" raise, then tootle out to Calif. to help out Laurel and Co., while stopping along the way to help out any others which might need a little "fixin'". Wouldn't that be neat? |
Subject: RE: requesting help: homeless fire survivors From: maeve Date: 09 Sep 10 - 11:02 PM I hope your Concow cabin project wins out, Laurel. We could use something like it here, though our disaster may be small in comparison. Maeve |

Subject: RE: requesting help: homeless fire survivors From: katlaughing Date: 08 Sep 10 - 11:41 AM I see, so it must be just one vote per cause. Well, I voted again, today. |
Subject: RE: requesting help: homeless fire survivors From: VirginiaTam Date: 08 Sep 10 - 02:28 AM I have been voting once every day. Just voted again. |
Subject: RE: requesting help: homeless fire survivors From: open mike Date: 08 Sep 10 - 01:41 AM i am not sure yuo can vote for the same cause 10 times each day i heard that you can only vote for one item in each price category i wish they would make the rules clearer. when i tried to vote on the second day the system could not find me. it turned out that the program would not recognize hyphenated names... keep clicking...we thank you...one of the local schools closed down partly due to so many children being displaced out of the community by losing thier homes. The effects of the fire sends ripples thru the community on many levels! |
Subject: RE: requesting help: homeless fire survivors From: LadyJean Date: 08 Sep 10 - 12:11 AM Voted. Can I vote more than once? |
Subject: RE: requesting help: homeless fire survivors From: katlaughing Date: 07 Sep 10 - 11:32 PM Question, do I have to sign out and back in to vote each time? I notice it won't let me just vote again, right away. |
Subject: RE: requesting help: homeless fire survivors From: Donuel Date: 07 Sep 10 - 08:36 PM If Pepsi can quench the thirst of people whose homes were destroyed by dry parched fires wimply with the refreshing help from beverage sales, you have my vote. It would be prudent to show how many children were displaced from those fires. It seems most of the Pepsi winners are children issues. Its both hopeful and sad though. I remember I had the same feeling watching Queen for a day. |
Subject: RE: requesting help: homeless fire survivors From: VirginiaTam Date: 07 Sep 10 - 12:28 PM one more from me |

Subject: RE: requesting help: homeless fire survivors From: open mike Date: 04 Sep 10 - 02:30 AM I should have requested this to be placed below the line....i am living in a motor home for over 2 years now..a weekend or a week is o.k., but after 2 years it wears on the nerves!! |
Subject: requesting help: homeless fire survivors From: open mike Date: 04 Sep 10 - 02:27 AM As you may know, mine was one of over 200 homes destroyed by fire 2 years ago. I would like to request assistance from all my Mudcat friends...there is a grant that can provide homes for several of the folks who lost their homes in the local fires 2 years ago. The Pepsi "Refresh" grant might help with this project. We need votes, and you are able to vote once every day in Sept. Please log in to: www.Refresh...Everything.com (the Pepsi Refresh Everything Project) and give us your vote of support. Mine is one of over 200 homes destroyed by the camp fire 2 years ago, and many of us are not yet in permanent living situations. Our local non-profit, Yankee Hill Fire Safe Council asks you to vote early and vote often for our proposed project. It would mean so much to those of us who have been displaced by this fire. Think of what it would be like if your house and all your belongings disappeared all of the sudden and multiply this times 200! A simple click would help so much...please vote for this project and ask your friends and family to do the same. Thank you, Laurel, fire survivor. look for the project called 3 fire safe cabins for concow.... thank you for your support....please ask other friends, family to vote too, won't you? |
