Subject: RE: BS: Launch visible Mid Atlantic US From: Mrrzy Date: 11 Jul 14 - 02:58 PM Is there a map of where you can see it from, if that works in English? I took my class outside to watch the last one we could watch, it was the first time I'd seen a rocket take off in real life, I thought it was cool. |
Subject: RE: BS: Launch visible Mid Atlantic US From: Musket Date: 11 Jul 14 - 01:05 PM You can't do a launch in Hampshire, it'll scare the New Forest ponies. The snail, not being the fastest slug on the street, hasn't broadened his horizons by the 20 miles or so you need to travel to find another Wallop in Hampshire, Farleigh Wallop. 20 miles is a decent safety zone from which the public can watch the launch. But don't face the wrong way or all you will see is Basingstoke. |

Subject: RE: BS: Launch visible Mid Atlantic US From: TheSnail Date: 11 Jul 14 - 12:09 PM Is "severe weather in the Wallops area" a euphemism? The Wallops are three villages in Hampshire, UK - Over Wallop, Middle Wallop and Nether Wallop. Seems an odd place to launch a space shot. |

Subject: RE: BS: Launch visible Mid Atlantic US From: Musket Date: 11 Jul 14 - 10:02 AM Is this a bullshit discussion forum or a posting board for news that isn't worth normal news programmes? Does BeardedBruce agree, disagree, turn it into a sonnet or use it to help Mossad kick the shit out of Palestine? |
Subject: BS: Launch visible Mid Atlantic US From: beardedbruce Date: 11 Jul 14 - 09:59 AM Orbital announced this morning that the launch of the Antares rocket for the Orb-2 Commercial Resupply Services mission to the International Space Station for NASA has been rescheduled for Sunday, July 13 at 12:52 p.m. EDT. Over the past several days, Orbital's launch team has made great progress in preparing the rocket for the Orb-2 mission, which will be the fourth flight of Antares in the past 15 months. However, severe weather in the Wallops area has repeatedly interrupted the team's normal operational schedule leading up to the launch. As a result, these activities have taken longer than expected. Orbital has decided to postpone the Orb-2 mission by an additional day in order to maintain normal launch operations processing. With its launch moved to Sunday, Cygnus is now scheduled to arrive at the ISS on Wednesday, July 16 with grapple by the Station's robotic arm scheduled for approximately 6:37 a.m. EDT. Cygnus is carrying about 3,300 pounds of supplies for the Station including research investigations, crew provisions, hardware, and science experiments from across the country. http://www.orbital.com/NewsInfo/MissionUpdates/Orb-2/default.aspx maps of viewing region |
