Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's health From: Jeri Date: 28 Feb 16 - 10:09 AM I discovered last night that the lack of feeling in his arm wasn't due to a nerve-related accident but an intentional block. Keep on healin'! |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's health From: Charley Noble Date: 28 Feb 16 - 09:41 AM Is the vertigo resolved at this point? My mother had a severe case of vertigo a year or so ago and physical therapy (resetting the crystals in one's inner ear which sounds like nonsense!) totally cured her. She also had carpel tunnel surgery on her wrists and was concerned whether she would be able to play the piano after the operation. Her doctor reassured her that she'd have no problem. And she responded, "That's great, since I've never been able to play the piano." Cheerily, Charlie Ipcar |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's health From: GUEST,KENDALL Date: 27 Feb 16 - 10:48 AM I DIDN'T REALIZE HOW HEAVY MY ARMS ARE. NOW THAT I HAVE NO FEELING IN IT, I MUST SUPPORT IT WITH THE OTHER ARM, AND IT FEELS LIKE I'M CARRYING A DEAD BABY. MORE BAD NEWS; MY ONE REMAINING SIBLING IS NOW IN HOSPICE. DAMN, I AM LOSING A BIG CHUNK OF MY CHILDHOOD. |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's health From: jacqui.c Date: 25 Feb 16 - 07:47 PM Back from the hospital - the surgeon tells us that there was a lot of arthritis in there. They have trimmed the bone and attached a tendon to the bone(?) to make life easier. A couple of weeks and Kendall should be able to do what he wants with that hand. Right now he is learning to deal with life one-handed. The block they put on has not yet worn off - good from the pain point of view, although he has some of the good stuff for that, bad because the arm is useless and VERY heavy. |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's health From: GUEST,SINS Date: 23 Feb 16 - 09:12 AM Heater broken? Cuddle up to Jacqui. Dizziness? Benicar causes it for me. Just enjoy the ride...and don't fall down. Full body scan? Words fail me. LOL See you Saturday? |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's health From: Steve Shaw Date: 22 Feb 16 - 09:06 PM Dizziness and falling? A couple of years ago my doc put me on tramadol for my back pain. Within days I couldn't close my eyes in the shower for fear of falling over, I almost fell downstairs three times in a week as my legs suddenly gave way under me and I suddenly felt extremely unsafe behind the wheel. If I missed a dose I got severe withdrawal symptoms within a couple of hours, like a cross between flu and near-death. That was all in a period of two weeks. After I'd put two and two together and tried to stop, I spent three demented, totally sleepless nights thrashing about on the sofa. I wasn't back to normal for weeks. I could tell you much more by way of, er, stuff I don't discuss online. Sod tramadol. Evil stuff. |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's health From: Noreen Date: 22 Feb 16 - 04:59 PM ... and I need a total body scan in September The doctors can't be worried if they're not scanning you for another 7 months, Kendall! You'll outlive us all. Good luck with the car heater. These little things can take some sorting- my Mum's car was taken away to replace a lost key, she's still not got it back 3 weeks later! |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's health From: Dan Schatz Date: 22 Feb 16 - 02:32 PM Argh, replacing the blower motor in your car heater (presumably the engine still works, so you're generating heat) is not what you need to be dealing with now except it is. Is it too soon to start making jokes about storytellers and hot air? As a folksinger/ preacher, I'm intimately familiar with this line of humor. Dan |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's health From: kendall Date: 22 Feb 16 - 02:16 PM I have taken myself off the Vertigo pills, and I'm doing the exercise routines that were given to me. Feeling pretty good for a man twice my age. Just had lunch with one of my favorite women, my daughter, Debra, and it was very pleasant.Things appear to be looking up. Keep me in your thoughts. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's health From: GUEST,MikeL2 Date: 22 Feb 16 - 11:51 AM Hi Kendal Sorry to hear about your current situation. I have gone along a very similar line to you. I had cancer of the larynx some 20 years ago. After terms of Radio Therapy and Chemo I was announced clear. Since then I have had at different times various parts of my body affected by skin cancer. I have had them cut out by excision , and by Cryosurgery. Recently I had one on my shin bone and this required excision and then skin graft because of the difficulty in being able to stitch the wound. After some problems that has now healed well. I occasionally have some slight dizziness , usually when I am reading. Since my first bout of cancer I have regular check-ups every six months or so. Squamous and basal cell cancer are very slow growing which why six month intervals do suffice. My wife and I do keep regular checks and on occasions have been to the doctor if we feel something needs checking out. I haven't had body scans but "manual" checks by the dermatologist. At the moment I feel very well and I hope my situation helps you in showing that you can beat the " Big C" Kind regards Mike |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's health From: Waddon Pete Date: 22 Feb 16 - 11:24 AM This is terrible news, Kendall. I can't believe the heater in your car has conked out! Truly awful! Your other problems will pale into insignificance..... Seriously tho' I'm sure you have noticed that once the doctors have your attention, they will keep finding things to "explore". Hope that it all works out OK for you. Peter |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's health From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 22 Feb 16 - 09:44 AM Best wishes, Cap'n. When I had vertigo- staggering about, falling and projectile vomiting (no it wasn't the drink) I was advised I wasn't drinking enough water. Since then it has gone away- however, drinking more water when you have an enlarged prostate... ( I won't bore you with the details!). Rts |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's health From: artbrooks Date: 22 Feb 16 - 09:42 AM Take care, and I hope it is as simple as it can be. A whole-body MRI? Yuck. Staying semi-still for long enough to do one of those isn't easy. Get a referral to PT for the vertigo - I'm seeing a PT vertigo specialist at the VA and she's given me some very useful exercises. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's health From: Morticia Date: 22 Feb 16 - 08:54 AM thinking good thoughts at you, my friend, be well please ( and by please I do not want you to think it is negotiable, it isn't, I'm just being polite, okay?) |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's health From: Dan Schatz Date: 22 Feb 16 - 12:05 AM Here's hoping the skin cancer is a blip, to be over with quickly - same goes for the vertigo. It sure was good making music with you last weekend - let's make sure we have more weekends to enjoy. Dan |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's health From: Ebbie Date: 21 Feb 16 - 10:23 PM Is September a typo, Kendall? "...need a total body scan in September." My son in law has had numerous squamous cells removed from his head and face the last few years. He has had three kidney transplants and takes a lot of medications, which may be the cause of their frequent recurrences. My point, though, is that, although the treatment/surgery is painful, he is overall still vital and healthy. The fact that you have gotten very few is encouraging. Can you see the glow from all the light we are sending you? :) |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's health From: mg Date: 21 Feb 16 - 07:01 PM I too am hoping the conditions are not related. I had that terrible dizziness..can you see the room spinning? Ask someone to look at your eyes when you get that way...are they twitching back and forth? Hopefully it is that loose rock in the inner thing. There are manipulations that work like a charm..you le on your side and flip to other side and it moves the stone. Find someone who knows about this..,ight have to.do.it several times and it might come back. It is scary but benign..but obviously you have to rule out the bad stuff. |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's health From: Janie Date: 21 Feb 16 - 04:02 PM Hope all goes well with the scan, Kendall. The vertigo and the cancer are not necessarily related. Also hoping the squamous cell lesion is no more than an in situ skin lesion. Holding you in my thoughts and meditations. |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's health From: kendall Date: 21 Feb 16 - 11:48 AM Jacqui tells me I should have given more details. I was in a hurry, but: Squamous cell carcinoma took my vocal cords almost 20 years ago, ND SINCE THEN i HAVE HAD ONE CELL ON MY SHOULDER and that was it. Damn capslock. Now my dermatologist says it is back, and I need a total body scan in September. Maybe I will sing "I don't look good naked anymore. Vertigo, dizziness and falling, I'm hoping it is incompatible meds. I went off the Mertazine (whatever that is) and I'm a bit better today.I picked up a hammer and didn't suffer any attack. I thought about picking up an old girlfriend, but that would hurt. (Humor is the opiate of the melancholic) (Me) |
