You can drag whichever of these icons you want onto the taskbar or whatever it's called. A right click on the 'speaker' icon should then bring up the mixer options. |

Subject: RE: Tech: Win 10 Anniversary Update: Audio problem From: Stanron Date: 08 Aug 16 - 02:29 PM It's a few years since I used Windows and that was mostly XP. In XP there was a built in sound mixer. It could control sound output and recording input. If you can find the W 10 equivalent of that it might just be a matter of turning the input down. Perhaps others could suggest how to find it. |

Subject: Tech: Win 10 Anniversary Update: Audio problem From: Ed. Date: 07 Aug 16 - 01:45 PM Since installing the update, my audio is distorting at fairly low volumes and it was fine beforehand. It seems worse on Windows Media Player than VLC, but it's still not great with that. Device Manager suggests that my Audio Driver (Realtek High Definition Audio) is fine. A quick Google search suggests that I'm not alone, but offer totally conflicting bits of advice. I'll probably try reinstalling the driver anyway, but any other thoughts appreciated (apart from telling me to buy a Mac or use Linux) Thanks, Ed |
