I'll post Tipperary Christening as soon as I can. In the meantime your request still has me enthralled - I have seen the lyrics quite recently as I recall the similarity in tone to Paterson's Bush Christening. The distinction is often made between a specific combination of words and melody called a 'song' and melody without words, or with many different sets of associated words, called a 'tune'. Its not a peeve of mine but when I hear someone ask about a tune I expect to hear melody but when they ask about a song I expect to hear words. So it was a little surprising to me to see words and no melody with the thread name you had given. |
