Subject: RE: BS: improving our dialogue - good for everyo From: Mrrzy Date: 27 Feb 19 - 09:43 AM People may have a need to be heard, but some of us have a need not to hear their racist and misogynistic crap. Bigots have the right to speech. They do not have the right to be listened to. |
Subject: RE: BS: improving our dialogue - good for everyo From: Donuel Date: 26 Feb 19 - 05:44 PM Remarkable and honest. In fact you should contact Joe to make this a permanent link here so people can learn to communicate better. This may lead to fewer thread closures or needless conflict. People do have a need to be heard. The observation that some people are in constant transmit mode but suffer from poor listening is profound and strikes close to home. We love like minded opinions but are too likely to listen only to pick up arrows and fling them back in argumentative warfare. Compared to the old days when there was a troll epidemic Mudcat has become a more civil place. A place we can learn the disinct differences in the gifts different people have and other gifts we share alike. |
