Actually, Sandytoes, it isn't that you are unwelcome. Some people do not tolerate directed religious messages very well. I know I do not. To me they are equivalent to a telemarketer's call.

If you feel truly motivated to send messages of love and hope you might be happier and get better results if you craft them to be more subtle. Plus you can always develop a sign off that lets people know where you mind and heart are focused without being so direct. Several other Mudcatters do this very effectively.

Alternatively you can be right in our faces about this but then you should expect people to be unhappy with your message. This is the traditional reaction to such direct efforts to save souls. Martyrs gain immortality through strife, not through peace.

The nice thing about the forum is that we can ignore any posts you submit or answer them as we desire. My own soul is safe from your tampering and I can ignore your messages.

I just feel bad for two sets of people: those who feel their message is important and those who don't want to put up with that message. I'm afraid there is no way to find consensus on this. We are on two sides of the fence and there we will stay.

MBO, I am impressed. I am near a beach...but not in your neck of the woods of N.C. But one day, I am sure we can get together and have a friends meeting. I see and HEAR that I am not welcome here. And if this is the way these folks like to sling their "MUD" and be so rude I can see I want NO part of their mud friendship. BUT...I do appreciate your support and kindness. And I wish you the very best in your studies and school. I am sure it is difficult, but those who are patient and willing to wait...good things come to them. My favorite scripture, if you don't mind me sharing is...Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through HIM who strengthens me. And if you remember this always, you will be blessed MBO. I read where others don't appreciate my blessings and share what I believe, but this message is addressed to YOU and NO one else. So, my blessings go out with you and I am a firm believer in prayer and many good things come from prayer. So, I will be praying for you and wishing you the best in life and your school and studies. Good Luck today and everyday and God Bless You, MBO...(Matt). And once again, thanks for you kindness and support. It is appreciated. Sincerely, A Friend, Sandy Toes

Thanks Sandy. And hey, if you got sandy toes, you must be somewhere near the beach. Tell me if you & Chuck are ever around Jacksonville (NC) or thereabouts on the weekend. We could have a mini Mudcat meeting.

Ha! Would that I were studying history! My art history teacher thought so highly of me, she asked if I was a art history major. Mind you, this was the first class where I had ever looked at art history.

Best of luck, Mbo. If I had a belief system that allowed the conveyance of blessings they would be yours.

I have a friend working on his PhD in Nuclear Medicine. He is currently about 150 hours into a 500 hour studying program just preparing for the upcoming semester. If you think about him and what he is doing does it make your Communication Arts class any easier to face?

In two more weeks my daughter starts her sophomore year at Gettysburg College studying history and Spanish. She is another who needs blessings and luck. She is not thrilled by her classmates and the distance from home. Plus she claims the classes are not challenging enough. I hope she finally meets a challenge this year!

Well, today is the first day of the semester here at ECU, and I attended my very first Communication Arts class, which is the first step in the field I'm majoring in, which is Graphic Design. I'm scared to DEATH! Looks like a semester of hell! Blessings...I need all the help I can get! What's my though for the day? I saw it on a poster here in the Art building. "Leaving art school has been proven to reduce serious risks to your health."

Oh, Mbo, you know me better than that. It hasn't been in just this one thread and anymore I never use great spirit; I usually try to keep it non-specific out of respect for the myriad of beliefs we have or don't have here.

Besides that, Sandytoes has been invited/asked to join so that these types of things may be said by Private Messages and has not; is a free forum and several of us have tried to express how we feel about this whole unexplainable lovefest.

So, try a little respect for the whole forum, ST, and join up as a member, please.

kat

kat, that's kind of mean. You don't like accepting a simple "God bless you" but it's all fine and dandy when you rattle off your Great Spirit blessings. The way I look at it, blessings are such a good thing, I accept 'em from anyone of ANY religion.

Hey Rad - I find that a bit o' the craure can be helpful on some such mornings. Other times, coffee. And yet other times, there's naught to do but roll over and go back to sleep. And, now, at least as per today's local rag, there's new evidence that deep sleep helps those of us beyond our teen years in the battle of the bulge - something to do with production human growth hormone while we sleep. Gotta go, time for a nap! :>)

Sandytoes, since you won't join so that you can receive personal messages, we have no choice but to say things in public. So...please respect the fact that not all of us share your religion and as such do not enjoy your blanket "blessings".

Thank you,

kat

I think I'm feeling a little nausious. Really perky overly positive sentiments do that to me sometimes. Besides that, I reserve the right to feel lousy in the morning on occasion, and you have no right to take that away from me.
