I've done a search for the chenille sisters and have found the song on a compliation by Christine Lavin called Laugh Tracks. Still trying to find the lyrics. sorry again! sara |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bob's Birthday, premature request From: Mrrzy Date: 24 May 01 - 10:59 AM Those are the lyrics of Blowing in the Wind, which I doubt were the words to the parody referred to in the original post... but thanks, I needed to reread these too! |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bob's Birthday, premature request From: sara_grl Date: 24 May 01 - 10:53 AM It's not much of a feminist song per se...I guess a woman singning it could have changed it. But here are the lyrics just the same... How many roads must a man walk down Before you call him a man? Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail Before she sleeps in the sand? Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly Before they're forever banned? The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind, The answer is blowin' in the wind. How many times must a man look up Before he can see the sky? Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have Before he can hear people cry? Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows That too many people have died? The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind, The answer is blowin' in the wind. How many years can a mountain exist Before it's washed to the sea? Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist Before they're allowed to be free? Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head, Pretending he just doesn't see? The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind, The answer is blowin' in the wind. |
Subject: Bob's Birthday, premature request From: Murray MacLeod Date: 23 May 01 - 07:18 PM To help commemorate the 60th birthday of America's National Poet tomorrow, I would like it if somebody could post the lyrics to a brilliant parody of "Blowing in the Wind" which I heard on our local South Florida Folk Prog. Last Saturday. Performed by the "Chenille Sisters" (?) Somebody must know it, maybe it's even in the DT. Very feminist song, you would never catch Clinton Hammond singing it, but VERRY funny. If nobody coughs up, I will phone WLRN and post them myself, but this is much easier ....... Murray click here for requested lyrics
