I only ever met Rod once a year and that was at Whitby Festival. He has been sorely missed and will be thought of again this week.

Admiral & HK - I don't think it's that baffling. I assume GUEST, Nick Kett was doing a web search on his name Kett and came up with it in my post above. As often happens with guests not used to the system here he probably exited by pressing Submit Message and created an empty message.

No, Rod's never very far from our thoughts, we even carry his song books around in the 'van in the hopes that we can sell another two or three! Seriously tho', for all that we were at the funeral and the memorial concert, Towersey is the weekend we remember and miss him the most. His spirit is always there...

I think the answer may lie with one of the rebels mentioned in his poem "A Song For England's Rebels" - Robert Ket/Kett, leader of the 1549 Norfolk rebellion. At a place called Moushold Hill there was a large oak-tree, which Ket called the 'Tree of Reformation' where he and his men would debate and hold courts of justice. Some of the rebels were later executed on this tree. And near Wymondham is an oak referred to as "Kett's Oak". Do a web search you'll find lots of references to this.

As he had told us it would be, after Rod's funeral last week, we were presented with the coffin drape, a large red banner with the words 'Rebel Oak' emblazoned in white and an acorn-like logo in black.

He told us that he had made it himself and it truly is a fine piece of work.

The expression 'Rebel Oak' vaguely rings a bell in the dim recesses of my mind but I can't put my finger on it. I've tried a couple of search engines but there are too many Rebs out there, a lot of 'Royal Oaks' but no Rebel Oaks that I could find!

Can anyone provide an explanation?
