Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: GUEST,Garydon Date: 14 Aug 01 - 12:42 PM My favoriet is "If you are half as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside. I'd really like to get to know you better. Would you like to talk?" Gary |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Charmion Date: 14 Aug 01 - 11:35 AM The correct response to "What's a nice girl like you doing in a place like this?" is, of course, "Breathing." Those who ask, "How did a nice girl like you end up in a place like this" should be told, "Just lucky, I guess." |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: GUEST,A Woman's Favorite Line Date: 14 Aug 01 - 10:59 AM Used only once about 25 years ago. The guy I used it on has been my husband for 23 of those years.... "Hi. Wanna look for my tatoo?" |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: JedMarum Date: 14 Aug 01 - 09:53 AM "So, is that a Fishman Rare Earth you're using? Do you have the blender model?" |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: gnu Date: 14 Aug 01 - 08:13 AM Kendall said... I dont do pick up lines. The women who interest me are too intelligent to fall for them. Good one. Sinsull bit on the very next post. Mine ? "Hi. May I talk to you for a while ?" |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Naemanson Date: 13 Aug 01 - 09:22 PM What women want men to do to show they are interested: Make or buy a romantic dinner with candlelight and flowers, treat her with respect and love, whisper sweetly the words that mean so much, the small talk of love. What men want women to do to show they are interested: Show up naked and bring beer. |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: GUEST,petr Date: 13 Aug 01 - 09:08 PM at the last festival I attended a girl approached me and asked where I was from and if I knew any places to go skinny dipping in the area. I wondered whether or not there was a missed opportunity. but to address the differences mentioned above. biologically women are choosy, for the simple reason that having a child is a longer commitment. in a university survey when a volunteer researcher (female) approached a male and asked if he would be interested in sleeping with her almost 90% (or so) said yes, the remaining thanked her and said they were in a relationship (but theyd take a rain check) conversely when a male research approached a female and asked the same answer 100% responded with a resounding NO. |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: JennieG Date: 13 Aug 01 - 08:47 PM Many years ago when I was young and lovely a bloke at work asked me if I lived in a house with a tin roof - I replied "no, why?" - he said "I like to lie in bed and listen to the rain on a tin roof" (it was raining at the time). I thought it was original so I smiled when I said no.........ah, them were the days! Cheers JennieG who has now been married forever and doesn't get lines like that anymore....... |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Firecat Date: 13 Aug 01 - 08:41 PM Sorry, but as far as I'm concerned, people who use chat up lines are just desperate, and if any guy even tried to use one on me, especially one as cheesy as they are on here, he is likely to get a slap and then get told, in no uncertain terms, to go away! I've actually got a few put down lines for lads who try chatting me up, for example if a guy says to me "Here's 20p. Phone your mum and tell her you're not going home tonight", I'll just turn round and say "Here's £1. Go and buy some breath freshener!". Another one is "I'm only into short term relationships. Oh, sorry, your time's up!". That last one is a complete and utter lie though! I prefer long term boyfriends. Sometimes, though, if I'm not interested, I'll lie and say I've got a boyfriend. |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: GUEST,kendall Date: 13 Aug 01 - 08:08 PM I've been approached many times, and, have always appreciated it, even when I wasn't interested. Peg, I wonder if we will ever get out of the dark ages? Is equality just a word? |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: MAG Date: 13 Aug 01 - 03:50 PM Like that Harrison line in "Six Days, Seven Nights:" You know what a woman has to do to get a man excited? She shows up ... I second hygenic, above. |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: GUEST,petr Date: 13 Aug 01 - 03:21 PM whats a girl like you doing in a nice place like this? |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Justa Picker Date: 13 Aug 01 - 02:26 PM Further to Naemanson's comments, I think too the differences and requirements regarding seduction can be summed up as follows :-) Women require: an attractive and hygenic man; a good sense of humor; rapport; decent teeth; a nice dinner; a good listener and empathizer; something that sets them apart as unique and interesting; strong and dependable; the ability to play an F chord (with thumb even better); Men require: A pulse. |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Naemanson Date: 13 Aug 01 - 01:48 PM Well, Peg, if you insist on conforming to the norms of the crowd I guess that is your personal decision. *Grin* Actually I think men resort to pickup lines more than women because men do not need to be persuaded. A man using a pick up line is trying to start the process that might get him laid. A woman using a pickup line would probably not be able to finish the sentence before the guy agreed to sleep with her. There is some kind of fundamental difference at work here. "Hi, sailor, new in town?" is the proverbial line. Doesn't take much to get a man's attention. |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Hawker Date: 13 Aug 01 - 01:43 PM Nowadays of course, I would reply... OOOooh a session! Goodie! what instrument do you play? Lucy |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Hawker Date: 13 Aug 01 - 01:40 PM A chap once came up to me and said: br> "I'm a psychiatrist" To which I foolishly replied.... "Go on then, psycho-analyse me!" His reply was...... "I think you could do with a good session on my couch" Being a lady I took it as a compliment and didn't take offense, after all, the poor fella was at least trying - VERY! Lucy |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Wyrd Sister Date: 13 Aug 01 - 01:18 PM "Can I have this dance?" "Yeah, take it and GO!" |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Terry K Date: 13 Aug 01 - 11:39 AM or the Australian version "Hey sheila, d'ye fancy a shag?" "No, I don't!" "Well would you mind lying down while I have one?" Cheers, Terry |

Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Justa Picker Date: 12 Aug 01 - 06:55 PM I once stepped off of the stage at a gig, and a very attractive female approached me and told me "she'd like to have breakfast with me." Who was I to refuse? :-) |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: GUEST Date: 12 Aug 01 - 06:52 PM Kendall, Because we're more desperate than them |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: kendall Date: 12 Aug 01 - 06:48 PM Have you all noticed how one sided this is? Why is it that it's mostly the guys who resort to pickup lines? |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Bluebelle Date: 12 Aug 01 - 03:34 PM How about "Since you and I are the only ones here who REALLY know music, I want to personally send you a few of my own arrangements." |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: iRiShBaBe Date: 12 Aug 01 - 03:26 PM i heard a few sad ones in my time but these r the 3 best/worst: 1> is that ladder in your tights a stairway to heaven? 2> wanna sit on my lap and talk about the first thing that pos up?? 3>i lost my number can i have yours?

Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: GUEST,JJ Date: 12 Aug 01 - 02:51 PM From my (albeit limited) experience: After a few (several) too many drinks, it's too late for her to get the train home, so she books a room for the night in the hotel where we've all been drinking. When the rest are off playing pool or something, I ask her if she'd mind my coming back to her room, to talk After the inevitable 'don't think so,' my next line is: 'Please' Doesn't sound much, but we've been together ever since! Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Clinton Hammond Date: 12 Aug 01 - 01:55 PM One of the most successful, if the internet poll of universities can be believed... "Nice shoes. Wanna fuck?" I was surely going to the wrong places in university... ;-) |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Naemanson Date: 12 Aug 01 - 07:45 AM Sins, you are exaggerating! I only used that line on one woman and she knew it wasn't a pick up line because you were with me and we were at the bus station! But it is a good line though. I need to keep it in mind for the next lovely woman I meet. While at my class in Washington there was a young lady who was easily one of the most beautiful women I have ever had the pleasure to meet. She is in her twenties and hispanic and absolutely beautiful. I felt compelled to tell her so. During a break I sat down next to her and quietly explained I was now going to embarrass her and then proceeded to tell her how pretty she was. She blushed and even that was lovely, took it in stride and we were good friends for the duration of the class. Ah, if I were 20 years younger I would move to Washington just to pursue that woman. |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Mr Red Date: 12 Aug 01 - 05:50 AM Hey, here's one I never used (but I reads good) "Blah blah blah - Well you know me" "Er actually I don't "Ah! Now that can be arranged" |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: GUEST Date: 12 Aug 01 - 04:43 AM How about, Do you have a bandaid? I scraped my knee falling for you |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Peter Kasin Date: 12 Aug 01 - 04:08 AM Peg, that line is every man's dream! My favorite is, (said in a bar) "Can I buy you a drink, or would you rather just have the cash?" -chanteyranger |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: brid widder Date: 12 Aug 01 - 03:42 AM you don't sweat much for a fat lass....irresistable! |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Peg Date: 12 Aug 01 - 02:39 AM I once told someone "Forgive me for saying this, and of course it is going to sound ridiculous, but I have to tell you, you are the most devastatingly handsome man I have ever seen." And he was. And it worked.

Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: mousethief Date: 12 Aug 01 - 12:19 AM I like the plain old, "A-one, two, a-one two three four." That sets the tempo and all the musicians can come in at the same time. Or is that not what you meant? Alex |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: WFDU - Ron Olesko Date: 12 Aug 01 - 12:15 AM The WORST one I ever heard was a truckstop. A trucker actually said to the waitress "You on the menu honey?" Needless to say he was left alone with his rig. (No pun intended.) |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: GUEST,celticat Date: 12 Aug 01 - 12:07 AM When introducing myself to a young attractive lady several eons ago, she rudely told me to get lost. Now I look back and wished I would have said "Don't be picky as you can see that I'm not"! |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Bill D Date: 11 Aug 01 - 11:41 PM "hello"...works as often as it needs to |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: kendall Date: 11 Aug 01 - 08:54 PM ok, how about, "Nice legs, when do they open"? |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: SINSULL Date: 11 Aug 01 - 08:27 PM The best I ever heard was from Naemanson. We were looking for a Mudcatter he had never met before. He chose every sweet young, walked up to each and said "I am looking for a woman I have never met...are you her?" Some blushed and giggled; some looked around for help. Great line. Kendall, Even the intelligent ones enjoy a well thought out pick-up line. And walking around with a stack of autographed CDs and a guitar slung rakishly over your shoulder counts as one. SINS - running for cover. |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: kendall Date: 11 Aug 01 - 07:46 PM I dont do pick up lines. The women who interest me are too intelligent to fall for them. |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Justa Picker Date: 11 Aug 01 - 07:40 PM Hi. So how long have you been a guest here at the NYCFTTS? |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Amos Date: 11 Aug 01 - 07:30 PM What's a pretty joint like yours doing in a dame like this? |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: Clinton Hammond Date: 11 Aug 01 - 07:26 PM My favorite pick up line?? The one that goes from the underside of the saddle to the pre-amp... A close second is the line from the pre-amp to the end pin jack... ;-) |
Subject: RE: Favorite Pickup Line From: 8_Pints Date: 11 Aug 01 - 06:59 PM I'm reminded of Lenny Henry's (a Black British comedian) introduction to a young lady that he had invited up on stage ... Lenny: "Do you have any African in You"? YL: "No" Lenny: "Would you like some"? |
Subject: Favorite Pickup Line From: GUEST,Twister Date: 11 Aug 01 - 06:09 PM My favorite would have to be: Are you made of Campbell's soup? Because you're looking m,m,m good. What's yours?????? |
