She has the notion that restringing her guitar is a Daddy Job. Strange, for someone who can make those little sutures so well.... P. |

Subject: RE: BS: My kid found work! Yeehaw! From: mouldy Date: 31 Oct 01 - 01:49 AM Congratulations! Isn't it a wonderful feeling? My baby boy eventually got himself off his recently graduated butt and went to a job agency about 2 months back for a temp job, before applying to join the Navy. They gave him one in the Environment Agency planning office, which is now looking like it may turn into something permanent. He's been so happy since day one and they, for some strange reason, seem to like him too! Is it "My son the Doctor, then?" You must be so proud. Good luck to him. Andrea |

Subject: RE: BS: My kid found work! Yeehaw! From: Midchuck Date: 30 Oct 01 - 07:07 PM Because one of the standard gags in the stereotype of American Jews is their supposed tendancy to brag about their childrens' professional status. Remember Allan Sherman, My Son, the Folksinger? A switch on "My son, the doctor...or lawyer...or whatever. Of course, in reality, it's a flaw of all parents. It just got characterized as being a Jewish thing. Peter. |
Subject: RE: BS: My kid found work! Yeehaw! From: GUEST Date: 30 Oct 01 - 05:38 PM (Sorry, I don't get the "not even Jewish" part.) Why did you feel it was necessary to qualify the announcement with that? |
Subject: RE: BS: My kid found work! Yeehaw! From: SharonA Date: 30 Oct 01 - 04:54 PM Congrats, Peter! Which one's your kid? BTW, it took quite a bit of poking around on that site to find out the state Bozeman is in (hey, I'm East Coast, what do I know?). |
Subject: My kid found work! Yeehaw! From: Midchuck Date: 30 Oct 01 - 04:43 PM News flash... Peter. (not even Jewish) |
