........and to qualify Gargoyles last statement...
This mornings' in-box contains no fewer than fifteen servings of spam. A marked increase on yesterdays zero!
When I first started receiving this crap I was naive enough to hit the "un-subscribe" button on them and dutifully "replied" to dozens of them which created a kind of spam-induced feeding frenzy in my in-box!
Don't try this at home!

There are long lists of abusers - these are collected and filtered out of the net-trafic. The perpetrators are contacted again and again and requested to stop their abuse of the net. If the continue: they MAY become a "black-hole."

There are a lot of international politics wrapped up in the web and CERN - a few of the agencies which can block useage over their area of the net are:Checking VISI.com Relay Stop List (RSL), Osirus Relays List (OSIRUS), Dorkslayers ORBS-clone (DORKS), Dorkslayers Zero Tolerance List (DORKZTL), Open Relay Database (ORDB), Arbitrary Blackhole List (ABL), DevNull (DEVNULL), Five Ten (FIVETEN), ORBZ Inputs (ORBZIN), ORBZ Outputs (ORBZOUT), SpamCop Blacklist (SPAMCOP), Intersil (INTERSIL), Compunet (COMPU), FloNetworks List (FLOWGO), Summit Blocking List (SBL), Spam Prevention Early Warning System (SPEWS), Blitzed Open Proxy Monitor (BOPM), Spamhaus Block List (SBL)

Servers like SPAM as much as you do....and for the same reason...it anonyingly consumes resources, bandwidth, space and time.

Give yourself a few weeks, and some more porn sites and your box will be filled again. It is only a matter of changing a single charactor in the address for the SPAMers get past some filters.

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

I was getting those, too, but now the incoming mail POP3 server at my ISP has taken a disliking to my password and I don't get any mail. You can't win, ads and mail, or no ads and no mail.

If yours is like mine (Earthlink), a lot of the junk mail goes into a "hold box" for a week or so...you can go and visit and see if there's anything there you want...I've never yet found anything that really didn't deserve to be there!

Have you had one from Natasha? If she gets in touch, perhaps you could send it on. Apparently she has some nice friends in a hot-tub.

I get email vvia ntl cabletv. Perhaps they've just introduced one of these filters? How do filters know what's junk, anyway? I hope they arent deleting interesting real letters to me. How could it possibly know?(I really dont understand computers).

I too get lots and lots of unsolicited mail.

I suspect that a great many of them are from people who fell for the "Make $10,000 a week from home!!" pitch.

My server this morning has a new look and they say it will filter a lot of spam. Maybe that's what everyone else already has? (This is Alaska- we tend to be a bit slow.)

Or maybe they've all had meetings with their accountants and realized they've just been wasting their time and resources and not making any money........ Oh nevermind, that's never stopped anybody else in the "electronic commerce" game, has it?

It's odd that you should raise this point Greg,
I normally receive at least 6 unsolicited messages daily aside from the stuff my own filter takes care of but in the past couple of days mine too have dropped off to the extent that today I have 0 messages in my in-box!
You could be on to something here, maybe they're all off to the Isle of Spam for a conference!

Check with your isp, they probably updated their filter software or added one.

I normally get about ten emails a day from people wishing to lend me money or sell me something to increase the size of my organ of generation, or from hot and wet women who would like me to look at pictures of them unclothed. Over the last couple of weeks the number of such emails has dropped substantially. Do these people go to the seaside just like everybody else?
