Well, Nichole, yer doing everything that can be done. But since it's only 3 inches tall, it's purdy weak right now so be sure to keep the thing misted and don't water right next to where ity goes on the soill, ane you'll be just fine until it gets established. I got mine all over the house but they are in trays right now.

Window with morning sun? HAHAHA! I don't have a window sill big enough for a 15 gallon pot!

It's only about 3 inches tall. Soon enough, my balcony will be getting blistering sun all day long. I planted earlier this year so the plants would have a chance to get established before having to fight off getting broiled; the others are happy. Maybe it'll just be a late bloomer.

UB Ed:

Thanks no on the Bamboo. I have it and one day will have to bring in a backhoe and do battle with it.

The lirope, on the other hand is buzy stuff but not nearly as invasive. Have you seen "Majestic" lirope. It blooms white rather than the usual blue. I also got some *new* verigated lirope and hoping it doesn't "revert" like some *new* plants have a tendency to do.

Ahhhh, one thing that I have hundreds of is "Jack-in-the-Pulpits"? I see them at the nurseries down in the city for $15. That's the kind of plant I'd love to pot up and take somewhere and trade with someone who has something that doesn't grow up here on the Blue Ridge naturally but is hardy enough to suyrvive...

Nicole: Sorry about yer pepper plant. It may grow better in a window with morning sun. Might also be hungry. If it gets hungry it won't make any blossums.....

Godd luck.

Bobert, I just DUG out 5 tons (because they weighed it) of Bamboo and dirt full off bamboo roots. I wouldn't swap that with anybody.

Just to take a break, we also dug up a wheelbarrow full of lariope which was bestowed on a friend. Two nandina also have new homes.

Any additional swapping may wait til the fall. Alot of day lillies need to get their traveling shoes on!

And D.C. was built on a swamp!

Ed

Obviosuly, Bobert, we live too far from the earth to understand plain talk. Glad you're around to remind us that we, too, are natives! LOL!

Unless these are precious heirloom varieties, why would one swap plants?

I've got a pepper plant that doesn't seem to be happy on my balcony, if anyone wants to trade it for another tomato plant, or better yet a cucumber bush. :)

Well danged! There goes the neighborhood!

You all nedd to get out more. Plant swaps (ahhh, which involve those green things with the rooty looking things under 'em) are big through out the country. Well, maybe not in cyber country from the looks of you all's rather limited views of the universe... Ahhh, lets do the review one more time. The things are green and have roots that live in the soil, ahhh, ground, ahhh earth... and when you water them they grow up to be bigger green things theat have rott5s that live in the soil, ahhh, the ground, ahhh........

Geeze Louise..................

No no no no.

Planting swamps is part of a comprehensive wetlands restoration program. As most of you are aware, D.C. is built over a swamp...

What the hell is a plant swap? Is that like a prisoner exchange? We give back the spies we discovered in exchange for the spies they discovered? Adopt-A-Mole program?
