Agreed MC Fat - if it hadn't been such a good series it wouldn't have bugged me so much that I didn't understand the ending.

I'm not too sure, but if you are an accessory before the fact, couldn't that count as murder?

I noticed that, and thought that in actual fact the paper would have a slightly more oblique way of putting it - MP confesses "I paid murderer" would have been legally safer.

Well I can understand him not trying to stop the bloke by going to the police or whatever, but wouldn't that just make him an accessory? The newspaper headlines were saying he confessed to murder.

I think the idea was that it wasn't actually his idea, but he'd lost control of the guy he'd taken on to do his dirty work. And the guy he'd taken on turned out to be rather fond of killing people. The tail was wagging the dog.

Too rushed, I agree.

Did any of you watch the State of Play daram - particularly the final episode? If so can you explain to me why the Stephen Collins felt he had to kill the researcher? The truth came out in such a rush, I didn't have time to fully understand the motives. I understand they he had found out that she was a spy and that the hitman/ex army bloke had put her under surveillance, but then I lost the thread a bit - something to do with the Parliamentry Standards Committee. Was he going to go to the committee himself? Or had someone lese found out about it?

Anyone help?
