Sailors' Snug Harbor - where Bill Doerflinger collected "The Leaving of Liverpool" from Dick Maitland - what a great place for a maritime music concert! I'll be there.

If you have the chance to see Hughie perform and you miss it, then you'll be sorry. He's a superb performer - both in terms of musicanship and warmth of rapport with the audience. He exudes Liverpool wit and charm combined with the experience of being a professional performer for many years - and he is one of the nicest, most genuine blokes you are ever likely to meet.

"For those who don't know him, Hughie Jones is a former member of the great English folk group from Liverpool, the Spinners, who has written many delightful maritime songs that have become standards in the sea music community. If you haven't seen and heard Hughie in person, it's well worth the trip to historic Snug Harbor Cultural Center on Staten Island, NYC to spend an enjoyable musical afternoon."

"Hugie Jones at the Noble Gallery, Sailors' Snug Harbor [Snug Harbor Cultural Center] in Staten Island, NY. on Sunday, Oct. 12 @ 2 PM. Admission for the concert will be $10. The building that houses the Noble Collection used to be the dormitory where the old snuggies (retired sailors) bunked. In all likelihood the very space where "Leaving of Liverpool" was collected.
