Thanks to all for finding the lyrics - I have an old '78 in the attic of the song with 'Sailing up the Clyde' on the reverse. Played the record endlessly as a lad in the early 50's on an old wind-up Gramophone.
I often wander round the house singing the chorus, but now can let my curious grandchildren hear the lot! Their cultural education will be complete.

i I note it has a chorus very similar to that of The Day We Went Tae Rothesay-o, [googling it on Amazon records] to the same tune; but the verse has a different rhythm and tune. Is the tune of the verse similarly based on a traditional tune, or was it composed for the song {which was written by whom?}?

ii Should not Will Fyffe, as well as Harry Lauder, be added to the significant names on the ongoing Gracie Fields?/Music Hall thread?

This song was very well known and sung in my Scottish family. This is what I remember of it.

According to the British Library Sound Archive Catalog, YE CAN COME AND SEE THE BABY was recorded by Will Fyffe in 1927. His recording can be found on an album called "I Belong to Glasgow" (Hallmark, 2008).

Andy Stewart (not to be confused with Andy M. Stewart) sings WE'VE GOT A BABY IN THE HOUSE on several albums "The Best of Andy Stewart," (1996); "Forever in Song"; "My Scotland" (1991); "Donald, Where's Yer Troosers? And Many More."

(I haven't compared all the track lists diligently but some of these look suspiciously like the same album reissued under a different title.)

A song recently came into my head - for no apparent reason - that my father and mother used to sing to us as children. I can only remember one verse - or maybe it's the chorus - but there was certainly an introduction. This is what I remember - can anyone help with the rest? Thanks in advance
