I must say, I find myself wondering if the timing of this announcement has anything to do with Sharon talking about plans to remove some settlements in Gaza and the West Bank...

The developments plunged Sharon deeper into trouble two weeks before a visit to Washington, where he hopes to win President Bush's backing for his plan unilaterally to evacuate Jewish settlements in Gaza and some in the West Bank.

Saddam won't be able to be speak he probably won't live to be tried. He & the US government have been sleeping in the same bed for far to long & no one wants to be dragged down by a sinking Saddam. Hell, some may even think that we had some kind of connection and/or a helping hand in commiting crimes against humanity.

I don't think that Saddam got tossed out for eating crackers in bed, he just got dumped, plain & simple, he couldn't or wouldn't please us anymore.

Apparently some American defence lawyer has offered to represent Saddam Hussein in any forthcoming trial,something tells me hes in for a long wait.The last thing Bush wants is Saddam "singing " from the dock.

This is somthing that has been going on for a long time, and has been well-reported in all of the main-line media. No decision has been made yet. This is from the Jerusalem Post: The final decision on whether to indict Sharon on bribery charges rests with Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz, who is expected to rule on the matter next month. Although the State Attorney is in favor of indicting the premier, senior police investigators believe that there is insufficient proof to press charges against Sharon in the bribery investigation.

News just coming through ,that Prime minister Sharon of Israel is to be indicted for fraud.
Apparently he and his son, have been involved in shady property deals.
Maybe he could get the same lawyewr as Saddam!!
