Subject: Lyr Add: LONG AS I CAN SEE THE LIGHT (J.C. Fogerty From: Joe Offer Date: 19 Oct 98 - 12:21 AM It gets even more confusing, Gargoyle. I don't think he and the Danish wife had a child. That marriage ended and he recently got married to a third wife, and they had a child born sometime within the last year. I believe they're living on the Wisconsin side of the Mississippi River, and the show is back in St. Paul after broadcasting for a few years as the "American Radio Company of the Air. The radio program has a Web site, and you can catch the program there if you can't get it on your radio - click here. -Joe Offer- Here are the lyrics to the song - I think Kate McKenzie sings it, often in harmony with Garrison. Long As I Can See The Light (J.C. Fogerty) Put a candle in the window, 'cause I feel I've got to move. Though I'm going, going, I'll be coming home soon, 'Long as I can see the light. Pack my bag and let's get movin', 'cause I'm bound to drift a while. When I'm gone, gone, you don't have to worry long, 'Long as I can see the light. Guess I've got that old trav'lin' bone, 'cause this feelin' won't leave me alone. But I won't, won't be losin' my way, no, no 'Long as I can see the light. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Oh, Yeah! Put a candle in the window, 'cause I feel I've got to move. Though I'm going, going, I'll be coming home soon, Long as I can see the light. Long as I can see the light. Long as I can see the light. Long as I can see the light. Long as I can see the light. |
Subject: RE: lyrics to song heard on PrairieHome Companion From: gargoyle Date: 18 Oct 98 - 11:57 PM I can relate to your confusion Mo.
Garrison got married a while back, took off to Denmark with his Danish wife, had a kid, and then became homesick for the praries. He has been back and been doing the show for several years now. He has been able to reach middle America with an all but forgotten genre of radio stories and music. (Not to mention... given many folk performers nationwide audience/consumers) |

Subject: RE: lyrics to song heard on PrairieHome Companion From: Mo Date: 18 Oct 98 - 09:51 PM Folks - is this Prairie Home Companion the same one as mentioned in Garrison Keillor's books - and does he still do it? Sorry this is a bit off topic, but I'm curious! Cheers, Mo. |
Subject: RE: lyrics to song heard on PrairieHome Companion From: Date: 18 Oct 98 - 09:27 PM You could probably get this info at http://phc.mpr.org/ Sounds like something from Robin & Linda Williams would have chosen, or maybe Greg Brown. |
Subject: RE: lyrics to song heard on PrairieHome Companion From: MorgnlefA Date: 18 Oct 98 - 09:00 PM I think this song was done some time ago by Creedence Clear Water Revival. Hope that is right and that it helps! |
Subject: lyrics to song heard on PrairieHome Companion From: Len Date: 18 Oct 98 - 08:42 PM I heard a folky gospel type song on Prairie Home Companion a week or two ago. The first verse, (chorus actually I think) went something close to this. Put a candle in the window Cause I am getting set to go But I'll be coming home soon As long as I can see the light Can anyone fill me in on the rest of the lyrics to this song, or tell me who the writer, or artist is. Thanks much |
