Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs for rain, humidity, heat From: Tracker Date: 03 Aug 04 - 01:30 PM It would need to be song that would go out of tune in about 3 minutes (as my harp does in hot, humid weather). It's awful to be in the middle of Rakes of Mallow and suddenly find the f# is now closer to f natural. Irish/Scottish music doesn't deal a lot with heat and humidity, but you'd think there would be more songs with the word "rain" featured prominently. How about Mountain Dew, Foggy Dew, or A Walk in the Irish Rain. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs for rain, humidity, heat From: GUEST,ClaireBear Date: 02 Aug 04 - 05:28 PM At the moment I can't find lyrics to check to make sure I'm on point, but as I recall, Si Kahn's "Mississippi Summer" (of which I have a recording on Oysterband/June Tabor's Freedom and Rain) is marvelously evocative of hot, dusty, dry, insufferable summer weather. I hope my memory does not misgive! |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs for rain, humidity, heat From: Turlough Date: 02 Aug 04 - 08:19 AM Hello #1peasant, I don't know what kind of songs you and your band normally play, but Alan Reid (Battlefield Band) wrote a song called "The Pleasure will be mine". Unfortunately, only the first verse is about miserable weather: "The rain wis fa'en doon sae hard the drains were overflowin' Ye'd almost think the Flood was comin' on So they huddled in a corner tryin' tae keep oot a' the water And he told her a' the things he had in mind" T. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs for rain, humidity, heat From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 02 Aug 04 - 08:13 AM Hey Rain! |
Subject: Lyr Req: Songs for rain, humidity, heat From: *#1 PEASANT* Date: 02 Aug 04 - 08:02 AM I was out with my cooperating band the other day and we ran into a giant rain storm after lots of humidity. We were in a pavilion and out of the weather but the band had no rain or heat or humidity songs.... So I thought it would be good if they could come up with a song that addressed the condition of the audience and their suffering. Anyone got a song for Rain Heat Humidity Always good to be able to shift gears to empathise with the audience. Conrad |
