Subject: RE: Rivelin Valley Folk Day, Sheffield From: Lowden Jameswright Date: 19 Jul 05 - 10:46 AM I don't know about it being the "Wrong weekend" - it was at full capacity - any more would have been an embarrassment. |

Subject: RE: Rivelin Valley Folk Day, Sheffield From: GUEST,Dave Date: 18 Jul 05 - 09:37 AM What a brilliant day - congratulations to the organisers. In a fantastic setting, overlooking the beautiful Rivelin Valley, this was an all day outdoor/indoor event (choices between singarounds and guest performers) that attracted well over a hundred people at any time during the day and evening. Singarounds were very well organised, well attended and well received by an enthusiastic audience. Guest performers Napper & Bliss, and Ron Truman Border provided a healthy blend with some very talented local folk regulars (clubs run every Wednesday apparently). Singarounds were very well hosted with just the right amount of pause between performers, an appropriate level of banter & humour, and proper audience respect/participation given. Considering the numbers crammed into the main bar of the pub, this was nothing short of amazing! The beers were great too. The atmosphere was fantastic, and I was amazed at the good behaviour of families with young children, showing proper respect for the performers (not often you can say that these days!) Many congratulations to all concerned Were any mudcatters there? - What did you think?? |

Subject: RE: Rivelin Valley Folk Day, Sheffield From: MC Fat Date: 14 Jul 05 - 06:39 AM Best of luck Ian and crew. Would be there but I'm booked at Stainsby. Hope to see you at the Sheff Fest in October |
Subject: RE: Rivelin Valley Folk Day, Sheffield From: Lowden Jameswright Date: 14 Jul 05 - 06:30 AM Worth a visit - there can't be many better places in the country than the location of the Rivelin Hotel overlooking the Rivelin valley. The Magnet is ace, and there's a great beer garden with fantastic elevated views and even open space for morris dancing. |
Subject: RE: Rivelin Valley Folk Day, Sheffield From: Zany Mouse Date: 14 Jul 05 - 05:09 AM I only found out this week. Someone from the festival came along to Kiveton Park FC and I offered to put it on here. Pity it hasn't been publicised as it sounds like a good day. Rhiannon |
Subject: RE: Rivelin Valley Folk Day, Sheffield From: MoorleyMan Date: 14 Jul 05 - 04:32 AM Sounds great - what a pity this is the first I heard of it. Pity too as it clashes with Saddleworth festival, also Stainsby, both within easy reach of those in Sheffield. Sorry won't be there, but hope it goes well though. |
