Subject: RE: BS: software site From: Bill D Date: 19 May 06 - 12:01 PM I'll see if I can find specific ones later. I am JUST about to leave town for the weekend... To see some at favorite sites of mine, try Pricelessware.com and Son of Spy |
Subject: RE: BS: software site From: GUEST,Paul S Date: 19 May 06 - 11:34 AM Hey Bill, Would you be able to tell me what those applications are called? ... or better yet, give me URLs for them? Thanks, Paul Spafford paul@sourceforsoftware.com |
Subject: RE: BS: software site From: Bill D Date: 19 May 06 - 10:46 AM *smile*....to crush freeware, you need to make what you write do stuff either WAY better, or that no one else has done at at all. Why, I have 2-3 applications like that.*grin* It's always good to see if you can tweak a concept and improve software....who knows, maybe you'll find a small market. Enough to buy beer, anyway.... |
Subject: RE: BS: software site From: GUEST,Paul S Date: 19 May 06 - 10:00 AM Drat. I think we should start a movement to crush all those freeware companies out there -- starting with Google! Who's with me? Mr. Gates? Anyone else? |
Subject: RE: BS: software site From: Bill D Date: 19 May 06 - 09:18 AM I guess I am not 'offended', but there is freeware out there that does those tasks well already. |
Subject: RE: BS: software site From: GUEST,Paul S Date: 19 May 06 - 08:22 AM Thanks, guys. It doesn't relate directly to music. The software is a database to manage your bookmarks/favorites. I wrote it for personal use a few years ago when I found that my Favorites menu was getting unmanagable with the hundreds of music sites I was bookmarking. With the huge knowledgebase that a lot of you seem to have of helpful sites, I thought this would be a good fit. The site is SourceForSoftware.com and the software is called PS Bookmarker. Once again, I apologize if this is inappropriate. Thanks, Paul |
Subject: RE: BS: software site From: Geoff the Duck Date: 19 May 06 - 08:11 AM Give us the link - if it is something which is musically useful somebody may be interested. The mudcat membership are quite capable of making their own decisions about whether your tread is welcome or just spamming us. Let us know what you are selling and we will either take an interest or ignore it - there's only one way to find out. Quack! Geoff the Duck. |
Subject: RE: BS: software site From: artbrooks Date: 19 May 06 - 08:07 AM Paul, this place discourages spam-type ads. However, IMHO, if your software has something to do with folk music (whatever that is) or music production or reproduction this is a perfectly appropriate place. If not, its not. |
Subject: BS: software site From: GUEST,Paul S Date: 19 May 06 - 07:54 AM Hey y'all. I've never seen a post like this on here before, so please let me know if this is a tasteless thing to do; I don't want to step over any lines. I've just launched a new site selling software that I've created. Now I'm trying to promote it to people who I think would use it. I think one of the applications would be useful for mudcatters (but then again, I developed it -- so I think everyone should have it). Is there a way or place to promote it here? ... or is that pretty much the opposite of what the Mudcat is about? I'm thinking it's probably closer to the latter as opposed to the former. If that's the case, please accept my apologies. Thanks, Paul |
