Subject: Happy Birthday Charmion/Stilly River Sage From: keberoxu Date: 05 Sep 24 - 03:05 PM That's supposed to be Stilly River Sage but the final e got cut off. And it's Happy Belated Birthday to each of you. Many happy returns! |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Birthday Charmion/Stilly River Sage From: Stilly River Sage Date: 06 Sep 24 - 12:44 PM Thank you, Keb! As it happens, it's a big one for both of us. 70. As a child I never would I have imagined how normal and viable daily life is as we get older. (As a teen I thought the year 2000 was the big one, and figured I'd be way past it at 46.) |

Subject: RE: BS: Happy Birthday Charmion/Stilly River Sage From: Stilly River Sage Date: 09 Sep 24 - 08:29 PM Keb, here we were thinking Charmion was living it up with family during birthday-week and it turns out her vacuum cleaner previously plotted to throw out her back. My quiet eBay and weeding week is fine by comparison since there was no pain accompaniment. Lunch with family was uneventful other than the waiter telling us that the "new guy in the kitchen didn't read the order" and he made two full seafood cob salads. We'd asked for one split between us; apparently he had to remake two more instead of just dividing one of the big ones (I would have been fine with that.) I left feeling guilty about wasted food in the Pappadeaux's kitchen. We didn't mention any birthday stuff so there were no dessert or singing waiter events to contend with. |

Subject: RE: BS: Happy Birthday Charmion/Stilly River Sage From: Charmion Date: 10 Sep 24 - 12:04 PM Thanks, Keb! I had a lovely birthday, complete with dinner at my family’s long-time (forty-plus years) favourite restaurant in Ottawa, and a few very appropriate prezzies — though I think 70 is a perfect age to start giving prezzies to other people on one’s birthday. As Stilly said above, 70 was unimaginable when I was young and the turn of the millennium represented the horizon of aspiration. Now I realize that, with a little care and close attention to what’s going on around me, I could easily live another 25 years — so I’d better take care of myself! No more skipping the gym, for sure, or driving when tired. Also, I’d better be nicer to people and learn never to lose my temper. No one wants to help a grouch, and most old folks eventually depend on the goodwill of others. It’s a beautiful day in Perth County, and I’m determined to enjoy it. |

Subject: RE: BS: Happy Birthday Charmion/Stilly River Sage From: Charmion Date: 12 Sep 24 - 02:07 PM My feet are smallish and I wear shoes, so no, I am not a hobbit. I might be tending that way, however; I’m less tall than I used to be, and my preferred decor style is “comfy”. |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Birthday Charmion/Stilly River Sage From: keberoxu Date: 14 Sep 24 - 10:10 AM I'm just sorry this thread was belated, but it was when the website certificate was being sorted out and I was confounded by the pages denying access at the time. Glad it was happy for each of you. |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Birthday Charmion/Stilly River Sage From: Mrrzy Date: 20 Sep 24 - 02:07 PM Many happy returns! As an aside on the hobbit note - told my shrink today about how I didn't get upset when I turned 30, as so many of my friends did. I got upset when I turned 33, and would have to be an adult even if I were a hobbit. My shrink said he thought the same thing when he turned 30. I felt rapprochement. |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Birthday Charmion/Stilly River Sage From: Stilly River Sage Date: 20 Sep 24 - 09:08 PM I've read the LOTR several times, but what I really need to do is read all of the notes in the back (about 1/3 of the volume I have here). Then see what some of the new dramatizations are all about. I believe it is Bat Goddess who celebrates for the entire birth-month each year. Why not? |
