Subject: RE: BS: Strange Prayer Request from SINSULL From: SINSULL Date: 01 Aug 05 - 11:34 AM The police met a mutual friend at Thomas' apartment but refused to break in - lawsuits. Ranji asked if they plan to wait until he smells bad and the neighbors complain. Sheer idiocy. So he hasn't been seen or heard from since Wednesday. So far a check of local hospitals has turned up nothing. |

Subject: RE: BS: Strange Prayer Request from SINSULL From: JennyO Date: 01 Aug 05 - 11:49 AM Oh dear - this is going on way too long! This must be very worrying for you - especially now that your big weekend is over and you have more time to think about it. Somehow though, I still feel that it will all turn out okay. I just hope for your sake that you hear something soon. Meanwhile, I'll keep the positive thoughts and energy coming your way - and send you a hug to go on with. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{SINSULL}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Jenny |
Subject: RE: BS: Strange Prayer Request from SINSULL From: Dave'sWife Date: 01 Aug 05 - 12:03 PM OK. I am now very worried. SINSULL - I still have a few relatives on the NYPD and I'm not afraid to call them. One Cousin is a Detective in brooklyn (no big help, but he can pehaps explain what buzzwords need to be spoken.) From memory, I'd suggest that a NYC resident who has not seen him in at least 48 hours, go to the Precint that governs the missing guy's area and demand to file a missing person's report. Technically, the person filing has to be the one who hasn't seen or heard from the person and who has reason to suspect something is not right. This person can state that although the fellow had plans to board a bus - no evidence exists to suggest he ever made it out of NYC. If evidence does exist he got on the bus - then it's not NYPD's problem anymore and you have to then contact BCI Office with the State Troopers. Sinsull - if you want.. I can have my Dad call you - he's a former NYS Trooper and has pals on other State Police Forces where any bus from NYC to your house would have to go through. Maybe he can help. It would help if you knew somebody who knew your friends Social Security Number since that could help detectives track his bank records and see if anybody has made any ATM withdrawals on his account. Also, if this fellow has ANY health concerns that might possibly cause him to fall ill in his APT.. say so. It takes very little to get a Landlord or super to let somebody in, but before it can be done, a Missing Persons Report must be filed. Also.. My Dad is a HAM radio operator and if he has the dude's address, he can send out a Helath & Wlefare Check to NYC HAM oprators and somebody will go and knock on his doorand ring his Phone. ANY HAM Operator can do this for you. Please advise |
Subject: RE: BS: Strange Prayer Request from SINSULL From: Sorcha Date: 01 Aug 05 - 12:06 PM I'm surprised that either the lawyer or best friend doesn't have a key..... |
Subject: RE: BS: Strange Prayer Request from SINSULL From: SINSULL Date: 01 Aug 05 - 12:25 PM Just spoke with the editor of a local paper who contacted ABC News. Maybe they can get something in motion. The lawyer is not Thomas' lawyer but a friend. It is not unusal for city dwellers not to leave a key with a neighbor. Our co-op had to break down doors several times to check on elderly tenants with no relatives. No one has a key but Thomas and the building manager. The police wouldn't accept a Missing Person Report from me - out of state. I have contacted a relative in the NYPD and another on the State Police force. I hope he has not been lying on his apartment floor since Wednesday. DAMN! |

Subject: RE: BS: Strange Prayer Request from SINSULL From: Dave'sWife Date: 02 Aug 05 - 06:24 PM oh bummer. Sinsull, I am so sorry. A very dear friend of mine died from a massive heart attack very suddenly when he was all alone and I didn't find out about it for wo weeks. luckily, he was a Brother in a religious community and was found in the AM by his colleagues. The only cosolation might be that due to the nature of his death, he very likely didn't suffer. I am so sorry for your loss and that he's gone. Sometimes when we pray for somebody to be found , we don't realize the anser to our prayer might be that they are indeed found, but not alive. Still, he can now be cared for and put to rest. I must say, a person would be blessed to have a friend such as yourself. I'll keep him and you in my prayers still. Godspeed, Thomas. |
Subject: RE: BS: Strange Prayer Request from SINSULL From: Little Hawk Date: 02 Aug 05 - 06:34 PM One thing that occurs to me is that any one of us could suddenly "leave"...in a variety of possible ways...and people who knew us would be wondering why they couldn't reach us. It's a wrenching shock when one finds out that a friend has died suddenly. I hope you are managing okay, Mary. |
Subject: RE: BS: Strange Prayer Request from SINSULL From: Bat Goddess Date: 02 Aug 05 - 06:38 PM Oh, Mary. I don't know. I think not knowing is still harder than knowing even when the result is what it is. His last thoughts were probably happy thoughts of visiting you in Maine -- and I so wish he had been able to so we could have met him. Wishing you comfort, peace and some sleep. Much love, Linn |

Subject: RE: BS: Strange Prayer Request from SINSULL From: SINSULL Date: 02 Aug 05 - 08:26 PM Thomas died suddenly and very quickly. He was on his way to the bus station to visit me in Maine and I know he was happy and excited about the lobster boil. The doctors were unable to revive him. His organs have gone to those who need them. It looks as if I will be arranging his burial and may have a service for him in NYC. The best send off would be a church full of people singing. My family has promised to attend. I hope some of you can join us. Thomas was a simple man with a good heart. I am proud to say he was my friend. Rest in peace. Mary |

Subject: RE: BS: Strange Prayer Request from SINSULL From: Tinker Date: 02 Aug 05 - 10:08 PM I found myself playing and replaying this Grit Laskin song tonight. I think I was singing for you.... Won't Somebody Sing me a Lullabye Grit Laskin Chorus: Won't Somebody sing me a lullabye Good night Good Night So much more than in childhood I need my dreams to be --tranquil and sweet I'm weary now, burning out, shoulders tense and knotted There's more to do with each new day ,and each day less gets done. Just shadows of my carefree days, of innocent abandon If wish I may, wish I might relive them for awhile In soft embrace of flannel sheets, that beckon me with promise Of seemless and untroubled sleep, suceed you well this time. |

Subject: RE: BS: Strange Prayer Request from SINSULL From: KT Date: 02 Aug 05 - 10:46 PM Oh, Mary...I'm so sorry. What a shock for you. I'm sure you have so many things buzzing through your head right now. Perhaps you can find some solace in this thought. Thomas may have been missing, but he wasn't alone. You kept vigil for him and invited your friends here to join you in doing so. The power of love and friendship knows no borders and no time. He wasn't alone. But I think you already know that. Take good care, Mary, as you go through these next few days. May Thomas rest in sweet peace. KT |

He wasn't afraid, as I think people here picked up. He would have liked to say goodbye, I think, but sometimes it's just as well not. Thinking of you, and all that must be in your heavy heart. I'm here when you want to talk. Dani |

Subject: RE: BS: Strange Prayer Request from SINSULL From: catspaw49 Date: 03 Aug 05 - 12:56 AM Did he have time to get the tatoo finished? Okay, it was crude and crass but so am I and I had to say something to lighten the mood a bit. Thomas sounded like a person I would have enjoyed and he obviously had passion for life. I'm sure he is already missed and will be for many a day. I used to believe that time would heal some things like this but nothing really seems to do it as time makes no difference and the pain doesn't care. All we can do is to fill to overflowing the hole left open in our heart with the memories of great times now past. Maybe that is all our hearts are made up of........wonderful memories of precious friends Anyway, if he didn't get the tatoo finished you might ask for a refund. Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Strange Prayer Request from SINSULL From: Highlandman Date: 03 Aug 05 - 10:50 AM Sins, I don't know you or your history with Thomas, but I'm moved that you cared so much about him. All will be well. The fact that these sort of griefs are never really cured is not a bad thing. Pain you carry in your heart because you did the right thing and cared for a person despite the risk is what makes you who you are in the long run. Blessings -HM |
