Subject: Old Songs- YES! From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 03 May 01 - 05:08 PM Couldn't find the old thread, so I started this one! I just got the signed confirmation from my boss that I can take off the last day of school and get to the Old Songs Festival in time for the afternoon workshops, in plenty of time to set up camp, in time to set up the galley and prepare to greet other 'catters- yippeee! This is the same boss who gave me the day off tomorrow after I walked into his office and burst into tears. Life is very stressful right now, some good and some bad, but I'm very grateful that I work for a guy who sees a day off as needful once in awhile! Now to look into renting a pop-up camper; my new little car can't fit all the gear! |

Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: bigchuck Date: 03 May 01 - 06:37 PM That's great, Alison. Be sure to stop by the Woodchuck enclave (It'LL probably be fairly obvious.) |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: GUEST,Midchuck upstairs Date: 03 May 01 - 07:00 PM For that matter, you're welcome to join the Woodchuck enclave.
Whether you will wish to depends on your tolerance for loud howling and fiddle/mando/guitar music, strong beer late at night and strong coffee early in the morning, jokes not guaranteed politically correct, But we'd love to have you. Peter. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Jeri Date: 03 May 01 - 07:13 PM And I STILL remember Bigchuck and a bunch of other Alison, stress will melt away at Old Songs. I remember I decided to go while (in 1992) my mother was in the hospital. I enjoyed myself, and completely forgot about all the little expanding and converging bits of hell back in the "real world." It was one of the smartest things I've ever done. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: GUEST,Yum Yum Date: 03 May 01 - 08:33 PM Animaterra, (what a 'charming'! name.) With all honesty! go for it, I am envious! I have put off so many singing week-ends in the past few years, I wish I could turn the clock back. HAVE A GREAT TIME!!! still envious Yum Yum |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: bigchuck Date: 03 May 01 - 08:47 PM Well of course join us. You too, Jeri, and any other catter that can fit. We can even supply some Wicked Children for you to torment. If Jack Hardy shows up again, god knows what else could happen. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: GUEST,marty D Date: 03 May 01 - 09:17 PM Does anyone know what year Old Songs started? Thanks Martin |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Susan A-R Date: 03 May 01 - 09:27 PM What's the weekend? I may be able to do it this year. Shoot, with the strong coffee and strong beer, you've got two out of the four basic food groups in the woodchuck site. P'raps I can pitch my tent and fill out the other two (garlic and chocolate.) Now no one was IN that porta potty, or at least that's what Midchuck said. Susan |

Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 04 May 01 - 11:09 AM Oh, you sweet friends, there you go letting my tears flow. I'm having a relaxing day at home and just checked in to see all this kindness. 'Chucks, thanks so much! I'll have my raging hormonal 12-year old (Rhymes With Rich when her royal highness' sleep is disturbed- even at Old Songs, which she loves!), so will join you as much as I can, but will probably set up camp in the Quiet At Night section. Noreen, it's been 90 degrees here, (our little payback for the past nine months of winter), so a hot bath isn't quite what would soothe me- but it's cooler today, a breeze is blowing, the trees are GREEN, the pollen count is much lower than usual so I can breathe, and I'm having a lovely day. Thanks, all! |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Peg Date: 04 May 01 - 11:17 AM well, I might be there since it looks like my lil trip to England in June is just not in the cards... If so, look for me to arrive with the curmugdeonly Kendall... Peg

Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 07 May 01 - 01:12 PM Yer both wrong! It's the name of my chorus, designed by a committee, and it's a play on words which we say means: Spirit of mother earth. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: mousethief Date: 07 May 01 - 01:14 PM Forgive me for being literal! This is what you get for desiging things by committee, you know -- people malguessing what it means! hahaha! Alex |

I'll be all over the place at old songs - just had the schedule and I will have to clone myself! But of course I will be spending time (and money) at the Folk Legacy Booth. Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: GUEST,Ron Olesko Date: 25 May 01 - 09:45 AM This will be my first year at Old Songs and I am really looking forward to it. I plan to bring my trusty MD recorder to get some interviews for my TRADITIONS program (WFDU-FM), and perhaps with your permission I can record a few of you. I'm hoping to put together a segment or perhaps a whole show on the festival that I can air later this year. I'd like to show my audience what the festival is all about and hopefuly encourage a few more people to attend in the future. From all the reports I've heard this sounds like a great place to be, and I don't know why I've procrastinated this long!! The lineups always make me drool!! I should have been going all along. Speaking of procrastinating, I recently purchased a new PC and a new internet provider. My old login for Mudcat doesn't seem to work (hence the "guest" signin). Can anyone point me in the right direction on how I can either fix it or should I just re-join mudcat? I feel so out of it being a "guest". Ron Olesko |

Come to the Saturday night song swap in the Dutch barn and hear her sing one of her own fine songs. We heard it at Indian Neck and got her to promise to share it with the group at Old Songs. I came back from Indian Neck and sang it in our session, and it was probably the last time I'll do it here. Sandy, I never cared much for the organised song swaps until I went to yours last year. I'm really looking forward to meeting old and new friends! |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: DaveJ Date: 28 May 01 - 04:10 AM I have been campping next to those Wood Chucks for about three years now! (er maybe...They've been camping next to me). The traveling toilet still gives me a chuckle. Those Chucks are a fine bunch... a fine bunch indeed. I hope to camp next to them this year, too. My tickets on the frig. Dave |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Jeri Date: 28 May 01 - 12:37 PM I suspect most places in the campground are close to the Woodchucks. They have a compound. Hey Chucks, are you guys responsible for the port-a-pooper actually traveling?! |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: bigchuck Date: 28 May 01 - 06:20 PM Not me. I was in my tent trying to sleep at the time. It was fairly drunk out that evening, as I recall, and Jack Hardy was in the compound at the time, and I do seem to remember an exhaust rumble that sounded suspiciously like my son-in-laws truck but....nah. It was convenient having it there though. Kris keeps threatening to write a tune called Potty on the Turnpike, though. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Jeri Date: 28 May 01 - 06:53 PM Potty's on track Put it out back Take a turn around the campground, heave up men Sneak it off the truck, now boys be handy The Chuck's have stolen the crapper once again. Oh, Sandy said that he was soundly snoozin' (snoozin') But Jack Hardy was a desperate little man (man, man) The facilities were to far when he'd been boozin' (boozin') And to swipe the plastic can he had a plan (plan, plan)
|
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: bigchuck Date: 28 May 01 - 08:15 PM Lovely, Jeri. Don't be surprized if it gets stolen for certain nefarious purposes. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Jeri Date: 28 May 01 - 09:13 PM Needs more verses. ...and if I hear a potty-pilfering shanty at oh-drunk-thirty in the morning, there will be NO hiding place! |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Midchuck Date: 28 May 01 - 09:43 PM Like Sandy, I know nothing. Kris and I emerged from the tent in the morning and there it was. As an officer of the Court (albeit not the New York courts), I must object, however, to the use of the term "pilfering." There was no removal of the property from the possession of the Festival, nor, to my knowledge, any intent to do so. Kris actually has proposed a trilogy of tunes. The other two are Fillmore Hornpoop and Port-o-let's Fairwell. Peter. |

Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Burke Date: 29 May 01 - 12:33 PM Got my tent on Saturday. I've just found out we have a candidate in for a job search on Friday, so I won't be able to go early. :-( It's about a 2 hour drive for me so I should be there in time for the concert. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: CET Date: 29 May 01 - 10:12 PM My wife (Charmion) and I will be there. We were going anyway, but having met Mudcatters for the first time over the Memorial Day weekend at Portland, Me and at Bat Goddess's makes me look forward to it even more. I'm looking forward to seeing some familiar faces. Woodchucks: how do we recognize your caravanserai? Ours will be a big internal frame tent, probably flying the Canadian flag. All Mudcatters are invited to drop by for a drink. Edmund |

Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Jeri Date: 02 Jun 01 - 01:42 PM Barry - GREAT!!! I received my ticket on Fri. Hopefully, I'll get there early enough this year so I don't have to squeeze my tent in sideways. Not that I sleep in it much anyway. (I need a bigger tent. It's supposed to sleep 2, but I think they meant 10 year olds. Small ones.) I want to hear Justine sing again. She has such a pretty voice but doesn't sing much. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Susan A-R Date: 02 Jun 01 - 02:54 PM I'm officially reserved and camping sited. I'm coming with my friend Pam, and am not sure when we'll arrive/leave, but we have full-festival tickets, and I'm fully prepared to get a fill in for Friday and close on Monday so I can do the whole darned thing. Now I can go back to the website and figure out who I want to make sure I hear, and when I can get rowdy with woodchucks, visit Folk Legacy, etc. See you all there, well sort of. Those of you who know me, remember to flag me down, as I don't recognize faces so well. Great to hear that you'll be there Barry!! Susan A-R |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Peg Date: 02 Jun 01 - 03:00 PM yay BARRY!!!!!!! woo hoo. Well, folks, my summer trip to England is seeming like a fantasy at this point (the rumored low airfares just ain't out there) so it DOES look like I just might make it to Old Songs. That is, if Kendall and I can get there without being sidetracked by some libertarian cause or other along the way...;) Kendall, let's PM about the details...
|
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 02 Jun 01 - 03:08 PM All this and Barry & co too??? Maggie will be so pleased- she will be thrilled to spend so much time with Natalie! And Peg, and Susan- this is getting way too good to be true! |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: bigchuck Date: 02 Jun 01 - 05:43 PM Barry, that's GREAT. Susan, you can get rowdy with us any time. Peg, what liberal cause could possibly take precedence over Old Songs? I can hardly wait. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: CET Date: 02 Jun 01 - 08:37 PM We have our tickets and a camping pass, but I am wondering how early we should arrive to get a decent spot. We will likely be camping in the quiet section, and commuting to the sessions in the loud section. Does that sound feasible? Personally, I would rather sing than sleep, but we will have to get some rest for the trip back. CET |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: kendall Date: 02 Jun 01 - 11:55 PM PEG!! People will talk!! The hell of it is, they are usually wrong! You are, of course, welcome to ride with me. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Jeri Date: 03 Jun 01 - 02:16 AM CET, I used the "sleep in the quiet side, party in the loud side" for about two years. Please note that the sides are 1) quiet at night, and 2) music at night, quiet in the morning. One year, someone had an alarm clock that went off at 6:30. If you camp in the "quiet at night" side and go to bed at, say, 4AM, don't expect to sleep beyond 6 or 7. As far as getting a decent spot, if you have a largish tent, it's probably best if you get there before about 4PM. If you have a small tent, there are places to squeeze them in later than that. Of course, they start the festival activities even earlier these days, and I rarely get there before about 5PM, so I could be wrong. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Peg Date: 04 Jun 01 - 01:31 PM Kendall; I am hoping, actually, that people will SING... :)
|
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: MMario Date: 04 Jun 01 - 01:40 PM Something I always hope as well, Peg. Went to a party saturday and finally gave up on anyone else singing - so I just started doing anything that came into my head. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Hollowfox Date: 04 Jun 01 - 02:33 PM CET, the camping area isn't that big; folks usually commute with their feet, unless they need a wheelchair. Myself, I sleep in the noisy area, and I never hear anything that keeps me from sleeping. See you there. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Jeri Date: 04 Jun 01 - 05:43 PM Hollowfox, I know what you mean. If I'm tired enough to want to go to sleep at Old Songs, I can sleep through anything. I usually end up with about 4 or 5 hours of sleep each night - a far cry from Fox Hollow, where I once stayed awake for something like 92 hours straight. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 04 Jun 01 - 06:48 PM I inevitably end up waking early- no matter what time I crash into my sleeping bag- so I always stay in the Quiet at Night area, close to the Noisy border. Seems like a good compromise. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: kendall Date: 04 Jun 01 - 09:06 PM A couple of weekends ago, I went to three different parties over 100 miles apart, and was one of the last to go to bed. I outlasted all the kids, Naemanson, Jeri Sinsull and Bat Godess. We Taureans have tremendous stamina. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Midchuck Date: 04 Jun 01 - 09:19 PM Quoth Mario: Went to a party saturday and finally gave up on anyone else singing - so I just started doing anything that came into my head. That's why people won't let me come to their parties.... You're lucky. Peter. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Hollowfox Date: 05 Jun 01 - 12:11 PM Jeri, I know what you mean; you can sleep anytime for the rest of the year. I didn't pay for a ticket to sleep! But I think that the fact that we sleep at all at Old Songs is because we're older than we were, not because of the quality of the music. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: bigchuck Date: 05 Jun 01 - 06:59 PM Damn, Hollowfox, I wish you hadn't brought that up. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: kendall Date: 05 Jun 01 - 09:06 PM When I was a teenager, I could stay up all night making music, go to work the next day, and do the same thing the next night, and think nothing of it. I could still do it, and, I wouldn't think much of it now either. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Midchuck Date: 06 Jun 01 - 10:40 AM I have a habit, when singing Jesse Winchester's Yankee Lady, of singing the line, "I was making love all night, and playing guitar all day," and interjecting quickly "I was much younger then!" Peter. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Hollowfox Date: 06 Jun 01 - 12:18 PM Bigchuck darlin', we're not dead yet. Come to the Saturday night sing in Creature Comforts. Maybe between the two of us we can learn all the lyrics to "Snoozing, Bloody Well Snoozing". |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: SINSULL Date: 06 Jun 01 - 12:39 PM I am still not sure about whether I can get there or not. If I bring a sleeping bag and some single malt, can I borrow a few square feet for some rest? Unlike Kendall I can't stay up all night. (Neither can he and I have witnesses). |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Barry Finn Date: 06 Jun 01 - 05:15 PM Sinsull love, I always end up packing (sneeking) extra tarps, cushions & what ever else's deemed not needeed. We'd be happy to share any space or creature comfort with you that we've brought, not that we won't give Kendall a great run for his money, so sleep may be harder to come by, if my body holds up I may even out last the bugger, some things are stranger than fiction. Hope to see you. LOL, Barry |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: SINSULL Date: 06 Jun 01 - 06:54 PM Thanks, Barry. I can't wait to hear you sing again. It's been a long time since the last shanty sing. (I mean Chanty Sing, I think.) |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: kendall Date: 06 Jun 01 - 06:56 PM The gauntlet is cast down! |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Midchuck Date: 06 Jun 01 - 08:41 PM Having a new liver might be considered cheating by some! Peter. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: SINSULL Date: 06 Jun 01 - 08:46 PM This works for me. Barry and Kendall can try to outlast each other all night while I sleep peacefully in Kendall's van. Terrific plan guys. See you at Old Songs! |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Barry Finn Date: 06 Jun 01 - 09:06 PM Who ever said no cheating & Kendall my mom's given me a Doctor's note saying I'm to say up aas late as it takes to wish you sweet dreams & my kids are gonna keep kicking me until that happens (I gotta pay them big time though). I thought the fine print on the camping pass said no eating for them that sleep. Barry |

Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Susan A-R Date: 06 Jun 01 - 10:24 PM Wow! Music until 4 in the morning with Sinsull, Kendall and Barry. This is just enough happieness!! Now, regarding creature comforts, I have this obsession. What is the situation re. food at Old Songs? Is there reasonably good, reasonably priced festival food, or are we advised to bring our own? And what about coffee? Should I come prepared with cook stove and french roast? I can usually manage for about an hour or so without it, so could get it at the festival if it's available, but I do need it pretty desparately before I really get going in the morning (or early afternoon, as the case may be.) Advice please.

Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Sandy Paton Date: 06 Jun 01 - 11:46 PM Ordinary coffee, Susan A-R, often weak (by my standards), is available at a couple of the food concession stands, but no French Roast to my knowledge. I survive, but just barely, on their offerings. I'm usually stuck at the Folk-Legacy booth, so Caroline makes the hike to haul back food for the working staff (son Rob, Karen K, and this old geezer). She could have overlooked some more interesting coffees, but I doubt it. Maybe we should convince Starbuck's... Nah. It'll never happen, and if it did, we couldn't afford it. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: kendall Date: 07 Jun 01 - 05:19 AM Sandy is right. I dont mind weak cfoffee, but, theirs is helpless! Generally, the food is good if a bit pricey. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: DaveJ Date: 07 Jun 01 - 05:56 AM If you want strong coffee----BYO. I always make at least my first cup back at my campsite. (Oh, I definitely have been known to share.) Besides I don't like styrofoam cups. Dave |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Midchuck Date: 07 Jun 01 - 07:31 AM I'll probably bring a propane stove, a couple of carafes, and 5 or 6 pounds of french roast for the three days. People can come to our compound and whine if they're desparate. I tend to make "Cowboy coffee" (You throw in a horseshoe nail. If it sinks, the coffee's too weak. If it dissolves, the coffee _might_ be just a tad strong). In answer to Susan's basic question, you can eat pretty well there without cooking or hauling food and cooking gear, if you have cash and don't mind standing in lines, but it's kind of fun do do some camp cooking, especially if you can share excess around. And it can get panicky in the early morning, when the concessions first open, and there are long lines of people needing coffee, even the watery stuff they sell. Peter. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Joy Bennett Date: 07 Jun 01 - 08:12 AM Hey Sinsull -- Steve and I set up a screen tent in the noisy at night area each year - ususally on the far side of the track from area 3 - just a table and chairs and cooler - feel free to crash there if you like - we stay late, but need our creature comforts. let me know - we'll meet somewhere -- I believe we met at the Bill Staines concert in NYC. JOy |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: bigchuck Date: 07 Jun 01 - 09:16 AM Sins, we can probably find space for you as well. I have a pretty large tent, and there's a BIG awning. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: wysiwyg Date: 07 Jun 01 - 10:16 AM The Festival website link (and a link to this thread) are now in the Mudcat LINKS pages so you can find it all easily next year, too. ~S~ |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 07 Jun 01 - 01:04 PM Hey- does anyone want to share galley detail with me, and drum up a coupla cheap and easy Mudcat Meals to eat behind the Folk Legacy booth? We did something along those lines one night last year and it was great fun. I'll be glad to bring scads of pasta and sauce for one night, if someone else wants to do something for another. Or we could all just do pot luck. The food is fine, but it gets really expensive, so Maggie and I usually buy one meal and cook the rest ourselves. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: SINSULL Date: 07 Jun 01 - 02:52 PM Thanks all. I am trying to tie up a lot of loose ends and finalize plans. If fate complies, I will arrive with some baked goods, a supply of bourbon and scotch, and a song or two. If not, I will be home sulking. BR>Joy, I was at the Bill Staines concert. I live in dread that the man who was scratching his back distractedly was a relative or yours or member of the Pinewoods' Board of Directors. My father once said of me "You can take her anywhere twice. The second time to apologize for the first." thanks for the offer. I will seek you out and promise to behave (or at least try). SINS |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Hollowfox Date: 07 Jun 01 - 04:23 PM Sinsull, we'll finally have achance to meet! I know you'd have come last year if I'd gotten rid of the glockenspiel first. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: SINSULL Date: 07 Jun 01 - 04:37 PM Did I tell you about the glockenspiel and the bomb scare? TEE HEE - sometimes if you don't laugh, you cry. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Hollowfox Date: 07 Jun 01 - 05:00 PM *Now* we've got 'em wondering. hehehe |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: CET Date: 07 Jun 01 - 05:41 PM At the risk of sounding like a wuss, what are the facilities like at the campground? Are there flush toilets and showers? Thanks for the heads up about the coffee. We will definitely come prepared (although that cowboy coffee sounds good). Edmund |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Jeri Date: 07 Jun 01 - 05:54 PM There are flush toilets, sinks, and a couple of showers. You might have to stand in line for the showers depending on time of day. Sometimes, there's hot water. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 07 Jun 01 - 06:01 PM Cols showers, with a long line in the women's unless you try it at 4 am. Not a bad idea! |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: SINSULL Date: 07 Jun 01 - 06:05 PM The Woodchuck's somehow arrange to have a porta potty outside their facilities.Ask them for details. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Susan A-R Date: 07 Jun 01 - 09:50 PM Alison, I'd be glad to bring a tub of pesto and pasta and a couple of jars of salsa and chips, and some Kahlua Chocolate Chip cookies. I'd rather not cook anything there though. It's something I try to avoid doing on weekends, but if someone else will boil the pasta. . . I'll also probably show up at the Woodchuck's campsite, travel mug in hand, whine in voice. This is getting so EXCITING!!! |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Jeri Date: 07 Jun 01 - 10:00 PM Susan, I'm practicing my whining right now. :-) |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Susan A-R Date: 07 Jun 01 - 10:09 PM We could do it as a duet. . . with fiddles. think of the dischord possibilities!!But then coffee, taken topically, in large, hot quantities, is a dreadful waste isn't it? |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Peg Date: 08 Jun 01 - 01:08 AM I am planning to bring coffee and a plunge pot, and depending on our travel arrangements, cooking supplies for me and Kendall. Animaterra, I like the idea of a communal meal or two; I can do a good breakfast (bacon, eggs and buckwheat pancakes). re: showers, I am used to camping at "clothing optional" campsites and using those sun shower things when the water runs low; I guess that is nt an option here...
|
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 08 Jun 01 - 06:32 AM Peg, breakfast is definitely an option. Clothing is optional inside tents only, darnit! Susan, I'll bring a big pot and start it boiling early- pesto sounds fantastico! This is gonna be fun! |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Midchuck Date: 08 Jun 01 - 07:10 AM Peg, AT, Sandy's (bigchuck's) son-in-law has a sun shower that he set up one year - of course he built an enclosure for it, but that won't be necessary if it's safely inside our compound... I was going to buy a digital camera sometime soon...Maybe I'll go ahead now... P. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: GUEST Date: 08 Jun 01 - 09:55 AM It can get awfully dark at those fairgrounds! |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: GUEST,kendall Date: 08 Jun 01 - 09:57 AM Can someone give me details on the sunshower? |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Peg Date: 08 Jun 01 - 10:02 AM Midchuck I am concerned that the sun shower information and your musing about buying a digital camera are contained in the same post... just don't try developing those pics at Wal-Mart. Kendall, a sun shower is a plastic bag with tubing and a shower head attached, You leave it in the sun and it warms the water beautifully. Then you hang it from a tree or whatever and can shower with it! We set up a shower at our campsite at Brushwood with a garden hose hooked to the water supply and rigged it up over a wooden pallet; you just use the hose spigot control after turing in the water supply. more complicated than a sun shower but we return every year, so...also since the hose lays in the sun it also gets nice and warm...but you have to hurry before it gets cold!
|
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Midchuck Date: 08 Jun 01 - 10:59 AM Digital means no developing. Just post 'em to the Mudcat members' photo site early Monday morning after the festival. Peter. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: SINSULL Date: 08 Jun 01 - 11:02 AM Or submit them for next year's calendar. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Peg Date: 08 Jun 01 - 02:59 PM I should hope you'd ask permission before snapping a pic of someone using the sun shower (or doing just about anything else in a state of partial or full deshabille). I mean, if you don't want your gonads to end up where your tonsils currently reside. :) Peg

Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Midchuck Date: 08 Jun 01 - 03:40 PM Hey, I don't even have a camera - and I doubt anyone would actually be doing anything of that nature at Old Songs - it would tend to draw a crowd. I was just speculating. Peter. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: Hollowfox Date: 08 Jun 01 - 04:22 PM Nah, everybody's too busy playing music. |
Subject: RE: Old Songs- YES! From: bigchuck Date: 08 Jun 01 - 07:45 PM Besides SOME of us are getting to the age where they should not be interested (keeping my fingers crossed behind my back). Sandy |
