Subject: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: catspaw49 Date: 23 Dec 00 - 04:39 PM I thought I'd start this now so everybody can think about getting a few in here. Struck me that it would be nice if we could link a few family holiday pictures here. I know a lot of us have scanners or digital cameras or both and it would be great to see everyone's family at Christmas and New Years wherever you might be. There are several sites to use for album pics that we can all link too, so what about it? Take some pix for us to enjoy too. I'll post a few right after Christmas and again at New Years. I dunno'..........Just kinda' thought it was a neat idea. Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Bill in Alabama Date: 23 Dec 00 - 05:38 PM That's a fine idea, 'Spaw. Thanks Bill |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 23 Dec 00 - 05:44 PM Fine by me, what are these sites you refer to and how does one use them? Tell me more, inquiring minds want |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: katlaughing Date: 23 Dec 00 - 06:03 PM uh, Spaw? Sounds like a wonderful idea, but you're gonna hafta help ole Banj out there, alright? Banj, hang in there....one of them is www.driveway.com. For an example of it, please see Jeri's recent, like this week, thread "BS-Photos from Barry's." Can't wait to see those smiling faces of your boys and of you and Karen, Spaw! Will see what we can do on this end, though it looks pretty non-trad around our house, not even a tree at this point, but may do tonight. kat |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: catspaw49 Date: 23 Dec 00 - 06:52 PM Banj, you Incredi......no, you passed that rank...... Anyway.......Here are two sites that several have used and they are pretty similar. Posting the pics isn't too hard and then you use an open addy so all can view when you link it. Just follow the directions and its fairly simple (and so is Banj, so it looks like a match). Spaw

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 23 Dec 00 - 08:42 PM OK, so I got a Driveway account. Let's see where this goes. Click here |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 23 Dec 00 - 08:49 PM Well, it kinda halfway works....You need to click on the two picture titles that appear to view them...Jeri's all came up as thumbnails....How'd she do that??? HELLLLLLPPPPPP!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Bill D Date: 23 Dec 00 - 09:17 PM well, it goes NOWHERE unless you allow cookies..*grump*...various services differ as to whether they let you in without being able to identify & trace you...I use http://www.photoloft.com and they don't seem to demand to set a cookie in order to allow you to look...I will think about my pre-disposition against cookies |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Bill D Date: 23 Dec 00 - 09:23 PM like 'spaw said...there are many choices for photo display...here is a review page for most of them |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Bill D Date: 23 Dec 00 - 09:31 PM ohh..I see! driveway is a storage site...not an album site! You CAN put pictures there for people, but you need to give them a password and user name...Photopoint and Photoloft and others in the site I posted make 'albums' to view by anyone...sort of 2 different approachs..(Driveway can be used for ANY files...text, programs, etc.., but it isn't designed for casual viewing) |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 23 Dec 00 - 10:42 PM Bill, if you will check the thread that Kat mentioned above, it was written by Jeri, there is a link there that one just clicks on and it goes right to the site, no password needed. I guess my pewter is set to allow cookies, because I don't remember having to ok anything. I just clicked the link and *poof* I was there. What I can't figure out is how she got all her pictures into thumbnail format on one page and mine are seperate. Technology and progress, wonderful things when taken in moderation....with apologies to Mark Twain! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 23 Dec 00 - 11:19 PM I think I may have figured it out!!! Let's try this and see what happens:Click this |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: catspaw49 Date: 23 Dec 00 - 11:27 PM Didn't work either...........geeziz, we're gonna need a new thread before we see picture ONE!! LMAO!!!!!!!! Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 23 Dec 00 - 11:30 PM So what I gotta do to make it work? The share thingie says to put in the e-mail addys of all you wnat to share the pics with, but when I look at page source on Jeri's earlier thread I don't see anything but a a-ref this to go to that site....We'll make it work yet....still trying... |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 23 Dec 00 - 11:55 PM Didn't work either...........geeziz, we're gonna need a new thread before we see picture ONE!! LMAO!!!!!!!! That may be, but seeing as how a picture (especially mine) is worth a thousand words it will damn well be worth it!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: katlaughing Date: 24 Dec 00 - 12:47 AM Banj, did you try going to your pages with the photos and just copying the addy from that and pasting it directly to here? I've looked at both yours and Jeri's html code in your links and don't see anything different except the file names etc on hers. I think it should be a simple link from your main page addy, but of course I could be wrong:-) kat |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 24 Dec 00 - 05:55 AM Yeah, Kat, that's what I did. I first looked at Jeri's with the page source option in my browsers view file and saw what she did. Then I copied and pasted the URL of my open page right here to the message reply and it didn't seem to work. We will keep messing with it until we figure it out, thanks for the help and advice....keep it coming....I sure need it!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 24 Dec 00 - 08:27 AM OK let's look and see if this works. This, if it works, will be the Photoloft album:Click |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 24 Dec 00 - 08:32 AM Seems to work!!! Photoloft seems to be the one to use. Much simpler than the other one!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: catspaw49 Date: 24 Dec 00 - 09:05 AM Well thank gawd for small favors! Now if we can move along of the "Banjer Thread" we'll get to some Christmas pics...........oy......................... Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 24 Dec 00 - 09:49 AM oy? And YOU'RE worrying about Christmas pics? I didn't mean to turn the thread into an "PHOTO HTML for DUMMIES" session, but if anybody else wants to try it, Photoloft is the way to go. You can set up different albums, put captions with them, and seemingly do a lot more than on the other site. (You can even turn them into e-mail greeting cards or have them printed out in quantity, for a fee I imagine)Now, if I can just remember to keep my camera with me during the festivities, we should see some results soon! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: katlaughing Date: 24 Dec 00 - 10:37 AM GoodonyaBanj! The email of it came through just fine and I LOVE IT! You look like a "Banj," exactly as I'd pictured! Just great! Tks! kat |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Alice Date: 24 Dec 00 - 11:30 AM Banjer, email a "share" to yourself of any folder on Driveway that you want others to access - then use the URL that is in the email your receive to make a link here. You have to use the SHARING link, not just the location in your browser, for other people to access the folder.

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 24 Dec 00 - 11:49 AM Alright, let's what Alice sez...: click here If this works, cool. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 24 Dec 00 - 11:55 AM Nope....Let's try this one and then I'll quit...(getting real good with the HTML for a href! click it |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 24 Dec 00 - 12:03 PM The second one works...I still like the photoloft better though...let me know what you think, thanks.... |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: catspaw49 Date: 24 Dec 00 - 09:38 PM I think you oughta' quit jackin' around and post some pics on Christmas! I took a few at Connie and Wayne's tonight and of course there will be more tomorrow and I'll get them up on here as soon as I can then. Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Sorcha Date: 24 Dec 00 - 09:55 PM Well, ya know, I would love to post pics, but as yet I have no way to do it......spent all the money on the puter, so no digital camera yet. Now that Banjer has this down pat, we can expect pics of Santa from the North Pole, right? (Spaw--can't wait to see Tris and Michael on Christmas Morning.......) |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 24 Dec 00 - 09:56 PM Well here are the pictures of Christmas Eve at my house. click here Hope this works as well as it did in rehearsal today... |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 24 Dec 00 - 10:03 PM It was a pleasure, not to mention a logistical nightmare to get us all together at one time but I enjoyed, and am thankful for, the hours we spent together Christmas Eve. Even after the glitz and glitter fades away, those times will live forever in our memories.... |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Sorcha Date: 24 Dec 00 - 10:07 PM HEY! BANJ! IT WORKED!! Great pics! (That red dog--you sure that is a Chow/Lab cross? Laying down like that, sure looks like a Corgi......a LOT like a Corgi!) |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: catspaw49 Date: 24 Dec 00 - 10:08 PM Well HOT DAMN BANJ!!! What a fine looking family and I'm real happy to see them. I guess it was worth waiting for your General F****P approach. (:<))) Merry Christmas my great friend.....You are indeed a blessed man. Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 24 Dec 00 - 10:45 PM Sorcha, the red one is a Chow/Shephard mix. He has the body and blue tounge of a Chow but his face is more Shephard. He is our (my wife's and mine) dog. The two Labs are actually Lab/Pit Bull mixes but their Lab traits are very dominant. They are MY special grandpuppys!!! Thank You, 'Spaw for the kind words. I picked up my banjo and ALMOST got the granddaughter to sing Joy To The World with me, but she shied out! Maybe next time I'll get her started. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Jeri Date: 24 Dec 00 - 11:17 PM Fer cryin' out loud - I just saw this thread! You coulda PM'd me. Haven't bitten anyone's head off for doing that yet. Thumbnails: There's a little thing towards the top of the of the Driveway page that says "FILE VIEW." Click on "Thumbnails." The correct URL: (When you copied and pasted the URL above, it was to your personal edit page, not the shared page.) To get the one for the page you want to share with people, you can go into "Share, click on the doohicky to share the file and send yourself an e-mail, inviting yourself to look at your page. The correct URL will be in that message, and you can copy and paste it here. Photoloft may be easier, as they assume you want to share everything you put up. Driveway, at 25MB, could come in very handy for storage of all sorts of stuff. Sorry for not noticing the questions earlier and for taking up space here with "how to" stuff. And now, back to your regularly scheduled thread... |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Sorcha Date: 24 Dec 00 - 11:21 PM Still looks like a Corgi to me, in the position "it" is in......can't see a black tongue......guess I will have to look into Chow/Yellow crosses.......LOL! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: katlaughing Date: 25 Dec 00 - 12:54 AM Well, okay, Banj, I'll jump in, used Driveway doing what Alice and Jeri said. Early Christmas pix from our house: Merlee fills in for Santa's reindeer and poops out on the sofa! Come on, everyone; we showed ya ours, now show us yours! Can't wait to see Tris and Mikey and you and Karen, Spaw. kat |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Sorcha Date: 25 Dec 00 - 01:08 AM Well, kat, the Merlin is surely working hard, there, especially with that silly hat on. Neither of ours would submit to a hat of any kind......pride, ya know? The Pembroke Welsh just don't submit to things as easily as the McNabs......;) Merry Christmas to Merlee too....it's a nasty job, but somebody has to do it. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 25 Dec 00 - 06:50 AM Oh, my, Merlee sure does look like what I would think a hardworking reindeer should look like! What silly hat? I don't see any silly hat, I see his antlers...Very nice Kat.. Jeri, the more I look, the more I like Photoloft..unless I'm reading it wrong, you get 50mb of storage as opposed to just 25 on Driveway. Anyhow, I have with help, figured out how to use both. I consider this a very noce present...an addition to my knowledge of things computer...We've come a long way from the first Commodore C64, haven't we? |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Micca Date: 25 Dec 00 - 11:16 AM here are some pix from London England of Xmas dinner, and just after, Click here |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: catspaw49 Date: 25 Dec 00 - 12:57 PM Outstanding Micca!!! And kat....very cute myluv! This is fun huh? Here are some from Christmas Eve at Connie and Wayne's (a tradition), and some from this morning after Santa arrived. The boys had a wonderful Christmas, but Mom and Dad are about pooped!! You'll notice the stupid Weimaraner is pooped too (in MY recliner) and of course Cleigh O'Possum had to check out his newest house mates. After giving Banj hell, I hope I do this right!!! Click Here for Spaw's Pictures Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Bill D Date: 25 Dec 00 - 01:06 PM hooray for all!! seems there are LOTS of options to post pics! I learned something too , as I never realized that Driveway does all that....and it sure is nice to see everyone...*smile* (Micca, those pics make me want to pull up a chair and hold out my glass...*grin*) Banjer...looks like a great gathering....dogs & all!) I will take some this evening at the Silver Spring, MD. 'Folk Ghetto' gathering.. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 25 Dec 00 - 01:21 PM Wonderful thought 'Spaw, the whole extended Mudcat Family sharing pictures...Never knew I had so many aunts, uncles, cousins, and yes, even brothers and sisters!! After the Christmas show and tell tapers off I have some other picture collections I am working on putting into the Photoloft that I will show you. Great pictures from all!! Of course this opens up a whole new concept..why just at Christmas time? Why not share with each other pictures of our many activities, instruments that we like, partys that we may have been to....the possibilities are endless!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Sorcha Date: 25 Dec 00 - 01:29 PM Great pics, you guys! The debris on Christmas morning is one of the most glorious messes there is.....don't ever be in too big a hurry to clean it up. Just sit and enjoy it!. Lotta petty bottles, there, Micca! I'll have a glass, too, If you don't mind! Christmas Cheer to you! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Micca Date: 25 Dec 00 - 02:00 PM Too late, they're gone!! Still, there's some port around..... with reinforcements on the way! Liz the Squeak at Miccas'. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Dave Swan Date: 25 Dec 00 - 02:04 PM Geez, 'spaw, it's Christmas, buy the poor kid a shirt. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: catspaw49 Date: 25 Dec 00 - 02:08 PM Ya' know El Swanno, we can't get him to wear a pajama top at all anymore!!! Its 12 degrees and he wouldn't wear one on a bet!!! He's a good lookin' kid and a real charmer so Karen thinks he's preparing for the day when he can give some girl his top. Say, you know a lot about pj's doncha'? Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Dave Swan Date: 25 Dec 00 - 02:09 PM Heh, heh, heh. Yes I do. D |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: Banjer Date: 25 Dec 00 - 02:43 PM Actually you all are reading more into Mike's toplessness than really is there....Don't you remember when you were a kid on Christmas morning....Never mind getting dressed, to hell with breakfast, just let me at all them new toys...While Mom and/or Dad were heard somewhere off in the distance saying useless stuff like....Be patient, let's eat breakfast first, blah, blah, blah.....It looks like Tristan and all the kids are enjoying their Christmas, which is as it should be.... |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Family Holiday Photo Album From: GUEST Date: 25 Dec 00 - 03:50 PM Lovely photos all. Thanks! Noreen |
