I've reported it to Max. It's still the same Mudcat, so it's quite safe to bypass the warnings your browser gives you. I'm sure he'll fix it soon.

On Google Chrome, click the "advanced" button to bypass the warning.

Thanks Joe.
I know how to handle - but I wanted to report, so the certificate could be renewed, so as little users as possible are affected ...

I note it yesterday, but I trust Mudcat and I know how to bypass as I've done it for trusted websites in the past.

Just realised (I'm slow*): Looks like the new cert's in place. Thanks, Max.

* I'm dischuffed with myself that the cart-tracks of habit have cut so deep that I didn't notice for a day or two. But that's a discussion best continued below the line.

Hi, Martin & Nicola. As far as I can tell, Max has not renewed the security certificate yet. -Joe Offer-

As of today, it looks like you're right Joe after all.

I still keep getting the Privacy error whenever I reload the site, and ditto on my startup pages too. The Advanced Issues-bypass fix works, but it's a pain every time I need to refresh the pages.

No problems here in the Lincolnshire UK Backwoods. Got the error message a few days ago, all fine since.

The experience varies by browser and device. On Firefox desktop, having accepted the warning and set an exception, it doesn't warn me again. The crossed-out padlock shows the exception still applies, so the certificate is still invalid.

On Firefox Android the warning is repeated if I close then reopen the browser (rarely) or it's unloaded to free memory for another app (occasionally) and then I load Mudcat. So it's more of a nuisance. Again, there's a crossed-out padlock.

Other browsers may make life even more difficult.

Aaaahh, all working fine on my iPad (Safari) but got the warning on my Laptop (MS Edge).

I noticed that on my iphone, in both Safari and Firefox (which perforce uses Safari's code), once you've set up the certificate exception you do not see a crossed-out padlock. So you can't tell the cerificate is still invalid.

Thanks for the clarification, DaveRo. My browser is indeed Firefox, and I've just spotted the crossed-out padlock, now I know to look for it. I did say I'm slow :-) .

If anybody posts a folk song asking for my social security number or my bank account number, I won't respond. Otherwise, I think I'm okay.

Tell me, what's your SSN, darling Gerry.
Nine-oh-three and fifty-seven,
Eighty-six and eleven.
I'm a young thing, and cannot keep a secret.

Thank you Max and Joe! The new certificate says

Validity
Not Before: Tue, 10 Sep 2024 03:37:02 GMT
Not After: Fri, 05 Sep 2025 18:12:26 GMT

Maybe put a reminder in your calender to alert Max in time for renewal? ;-)

It's just a pain in the ass. Doesn't go like the instructions say. So I procrastinate... and if I wait long enough... I get to talk to Joe. Joe is my spirit animal.

Surprise: it took me seeing this thread update to realise the broken-padlock symbol, well, isn't. I told you I was slow.

May the padlock be unbroken
On the Site, Lord, on the Site ....

Well updated, Max.
