Off to Shrewsbury later this morning, but we'll be thinking of Vicki & Trefor and raising our glass to them occasionally! Please keep those positive thoughts directed towards North Wales, I know Vicki's going to beat this but we can all help. Have a lovely weekend Folks and safe journeys if you're on the road! |
Subject: RE: BS: Positive thoughts needed please! From: My guru always said Date: 01 Sep 09 - 01:08 PM While we were at Shrewsbury we took some time out to visit Vicki & Trefor with Merek'n'Dary and passed on lots of good wishes and hugs. They were very pleased to see us all though we only stayed for an hour or so. They're hopeful that they'll be able to go to Tenterden Festival and also Banbury Festival which would be wonderful if Vicki is feeling well enough *grin* So, if you're going to either of those, please save up your hugs for Vicki & Trefor but stay at a distance if you've anything infectious, coz Vicki can't afford to catch anything!! |

Subject: RE: BS: Positive thoughts needed please! From: The Barden of England Date: 05 Sep 09 - 05:21 PM I'm really hoping that Vicki & Trefor will be at Tenterden as I'm on the same billing as them (along with Viki Swan & Johnny Dyer, Nibs van der Spuy, & Jeff Warner) and it's been a while since I heard them. Just love their songs - and their company. John Barden |
Subject: RE: BS: Positive thoughts needed please! From: VirginiaTam Date: 05 Sep 09 - 05:27 PM Wish I could go to Tenterden. the breaks of being married to a college lecturer, means he can't go off every weekend to follow festivals. Sigh. Ah well still good thoughts coming from me for your continued healing. |
Subject: RE: BS: Positive thoughts needed please! From: VirginiaTam Date: 07 Sep 09 - 02:43 AM Hi Vikci! How's it going? How about some imagination tickling? Multi coloured banners fluttering in the breeze, brass bells tinkling away, snow capped Himilayas etching out a sharp blue sky. Monks chanting quietly in favour of your healing. One ancient wizened little man in bright yellow robes, touching your forehead with one finger tip and slowly pulling the offending illness (cocoon shaped) out. Cupped now in his wrinkled old hands, it transforms into a butterfly and wafts away on the wind. |

Subject: RE: BS: Positive thoughts needed please! From: VirginiaTam Date: 09 Sep 09 - 02:22 PM Whoa! Who needs to imagine Himalayas carving jagged line on deep blue sky when you live in North Wales. Seeing this on even a semi regular basis beats imagination any day. Only visited Wales once. Step daughter now in Swansea, used to live in Treforest when we visited her. Wales is gorgeous. People are pretty awesome too. And why wouldn't they be with all that loveliness around them? When we get the caravan, will do a proper long Wales visit. BTW! Hi Vicki and Trefor. Thinking more light and positive energy at ya both. |

That's where all the prayer intentions go. I'll be adding my thoughts and prayers into this thread that weaves you both tighter into a community that obviously loves you both very much. Sending you big light from the smallest town in the smallest county in the smallest state. Joyce K. |
Subject: RE: BS: Positive thoughts needed please! From: My guru always said Date: 23 Sep 09 - 07:10 AM Have had good news from Vicki yesterday *grin* Her Oncologist is now talking 'long-term' with lots of ongoing treatment for the cancerous cells, which is fantastic! She's certain that your positive thoughts have helped & we have now formed the 'Yew Tree Appreciation Society' as the 'miracle drug' she is being treated with came from yew trees! Please keep up the good thoughts! |

Subject: RE: BS: Positive thoughts needed please! From: Joe Offer Date: 23 Sep 09 - 03:52 PM Say, do you think perhaps we could retire the "positive thoughts needed" title? We've been getting too many threads with this same title, and it gets confusing. I'm reluctant to change the title, because I don't know how much or how little should be revealed in the thread title - that's best determined by the thread originator. However, if it's a situation that can't be revealed, then perhaps it's better not to have a thread at all. But we do have a long-standing policy that thread titles should be specific. I'm sending a copy of this to the thread originator. -Joe- From a personal standpoint, let me say that I feel that "positive thoughts needed" has semi-religious connotations that may be off-putting to people not of that particular persuasion (like me, for instance). Although they may have good wishes for whoever is suffering, they may feel excluded. Perhaps it's better to describe the predicament in the thread title, and let people express their wishes as they will. I would never post good wishes in a "good thoughts needed" thread - to me, it feels too much like "put your hands on the radio" gospel preaching. For this thread, Vicki Williams - illness might be an appropriate title, or maybe North Wales singer Vicki Williams - illness. Way back in 1999, we had quite a squabble about this and came up with an uneasy truce - agreeing that we would avoid prayer and related threads and keep it to expressions of sympathy and support for people known by the folk community, not for strangers. |
Subject: RE: BS: Positive thoughts needed please! From: VirginiaTam Date: 23 Sep 09 - 03:55 PM Dear me. I have been lax. Still in my thoughts Vicki. |
Subject: RE: BS: Positive thoughts needed please! From: My guru always said Date: 23 Sep 09 - 04:59 PM Totally understand Joe's misgivings regarding the thread title etc & would be quite happy for the title to be changed to 'North Wales Singer - Vicki Williams - illness' and I'm certain that Vicki would be OK with that, no problem!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Positive thoughts needed please! From: olddude Date: 23 Sep 09 - 05:18 PM Joe I think we are getting pretty ridiculous. When someone you care about is ill it gets pretty lame to simply say I am sorry to hear that. Some of us Pray some light candles, some send thoughts ... The point is good people take time out to think about the person ... like this very good person Vicki who will get my prayers. For many people here at mudcat, I dragged out my rosary. You don't say the rosary in 5 minutes it takes time. I did it out of love even if they didn't believe that was ok. I did it for them as my way of saying I love you. Someone please print out the flow chart or object diagram so we can code the proper response ... my apologies for the outburst, please continue to get better my friend with love Dan

I'll tell Katy and she can send them from Bangor where she's just gone to uni. Keep smiling and writing. Hope you make the festivals but don't push it too hard. You have to think of yourselves first. Lots of love and BIG hugs Tig,Firecat and John. xxxxxx |

Subject: RE: North Wales Singer - Vicki Williams - illness From: MoorleyMan Date: 24 Sep 09 - 06:37 AM Shit! I, like many others it seems, had also completely missed this thread over the summer. Must've been the title? What can I say? I've known Vicki and Trefor for a while now and am privileged to count them as friends. Vicki's one of those special ladies, a fine singer and luvly luvly person, and hey, life's always so unfair to the best folks ain't it? Still, I'm so glad things are progressing well for her now, treatments are working, and may I add my strongest voice and biggest warmest hugs to the massive chorus of well-wishes for her recovery? And all power to Trefor, her tower of strength... You WILL pull thru, Buddug, I just know you will... MM x |

Somehow or other, I've had 9 chemos without my immune system being affected - it's all your good wishes doing it, isn't it! Believe me, I'm not going to let anything keep me from Tenterden and Banbury if I can help it - I've missed all of you and the folk scene so much over the summer, I'm going to be there. I hope you'll all like my new hair! It looks much the same as my old hair only a bit longer... Just don't pull it enthusiastically... Lots of love to all of you |

Subject: RE: North Wales Singer - Vicki Williams - illness From: My guru always said Date: 24 Oct 09 - 07:56 AM Still thinking of Vicki & Trefor, what a wonderful fighter Vicki is!! It was great to see them both at Banbury, and they were programmed to perform a lot there and also to run their Myfanwy workshop. Vicki certainly coped with it all really well, though I'm sure it must have exhausted her. Being amongst good friends would have given her the extra strength needed! Keep up the good work Vicki! Love & hugs, Hil xx |
