I can confirm my attendance as I have booked a room at the Invershin Hotel for the full weekend. I spoke to the hotel owner on the 'phone and he seems really keen to make the weekend a success.

As already mentioned in Portaferry, second half of October or November is out of question for me - although I'd love to go back to Carbisdale Castle, a great youth hostel (but beware, a Scottish bagpipe player on the big space on top of the stairs is much too loud (the only sound I know that's worse than that is LTS + GTS behind me in the car ...)

I spoke to Graham the landlord this afternoon, and he has 3 people confirmed so far. It would be nice if we could get a few more confirmed,it is only a small hotel, and I'm sure we can get enough of us to fill it. That way we can play till the early hours, with no chance of disturbing some tweed suited visiting angler.
Graham is happy for us to do this, but only if we can provide enough people for him to turn a way non Folkie Guests. Also regarding that point, although this is a MudClan Gathering, there is no reason why non-mudactters can't attend as long as they are folk orientated they're welcome.
So enough bookings means that we get the place to ourselves, and Graham will refuse other bookings.
Go to it chaps, and chappesses!

Well, is anyone interested in sharing the self catering apartments? Otherwise I'll book in at the youth hostel. Will try to find out if there are late passes. I'm intending to make it a longer stay in Scotland so that I can visit friends in Edinburgh & Glasgow. Are you intending to finish after the Sunday lunch session, or will we go on until Sunday night?

Will phone hotel tonight: got into the website today and it looks great.
Also found an interesting article in the "Northern Times" of last October about Graham and his brother and their plans for the hotel: on Google. As you say, they seem committed to the music. (The link is rather too long to post so just Google it!)

By the time you have driven south to Inverness Airport you could have driven north to Scrabster, and caught a ferry to Orkney for less than the plane fare Skarpi.

Well if they're not, that'll be tough, as I have been known to try to sing while accompanying myself on guitar! When I spoke to Graham, he asked what instruments I played, and it didn't seem to cause a problem.
Breton Cap, 'twould be great if you and the missis come up too! Probably taking a car up frae Edinburgh, but already have one, poss 2 passengers + mobile orchestra.

Bar might be a bit small for us all to be in there at once in it's present form, although Graham says he is extending it in due course.
As I said above, the Saturday night will be a sort of concert format with people putting their names down for a spot, and then I will run it like a folk club, floor spots type format. It will be held in the function room with amplification if required.
I wonder how many people would be interested in going on a distillery tour on the Saturday. If enough were I would arrange for the tour to happen. I suggest Dalmore, near Alness, as it's a nice friendly wee place, and about the nearest one to the venue.

All single rooms are now booked in the hotel itself, doubles are available for couples and those who don't mind sharing.
All seems to be coming along nicely. Do try and book as early as possible if you're coming as we want the place to ourselves if possible.

By the way, I didn't answer the question re the distillery. Having been round a few, not madly enthusiastic, but if everyone else is going I'll go with the crowd. Alternative for me would be walk around the lovely scenery up there.
