Subject: RE: Tell me about Si Kahn... From: Desert Dancer Date: 29 Oct 03 - 12:45 AM Still seeking confirmation of the Norma Rae story... Larry, try info@grassrootsleadership.org, the contact address for Grassroots Leadership, where he's executive director. (He's probably got a specific address, but I forgot to take a copy of the newsletter and business card at the concert Sunday. This address is from the web site.) ~ Becky in Tucson |

Subject: RE: Tell me about Si Kahn... From: GUEST,Len Wallace Date: 12 Sep 04 - 03:40 AM I count Si as one of my good friends in musical crime, a source of inspiration and a wealth of music on songs of Appalachia, songs of labour, Yiddish song, songs of work, country. Si carries the tradition, not only singing the old songs, but writing new material in the tradition of the old. His strength is in bringing the stories of struggle, singing people's histories so that they are not forgotten, teaching everyone in the process that the lives of so-called "ordinary" men and women are more important to out history than the Donald Trumps of the world. Si is just one of those people who you have to come to know on the folk scene. And...he's just a sincerely genuine, kind guy willing to share and listen to all around him. Len Wallace |
