Claymore,

Telling people that you took an autoharp to Vietnam is not the same as appologizing for gratuitously flaming many if not most of us--curious as to why you felt no need to respond to my post, and yet responded in such depth to others--

Now one of the troubles with people signing in as guests is that personal disputes have to be conducted out in public.

"I wonder who's Kissinger now?" - someone must have written the song. The thing is, I suspect for most people under 30, that'd be a very valid question for them to ask.

Wow! I doubt I agree with Claymore about many things, but I think there is some confusion here. Expressing unpopular opinions is not automatically the same thing as "flaming."

Whoever started this thread appears to have assumed that, of course all right-thinking persons agree that Kissinger was a swine, and only right-thinking folks belong on Mudcat. That is taking a whole lot for granted. Now I, for one, feel that Vietnam, was a horrible, horrible war, and among the many, many reasons that it was so awful was because of the ill-feeling and hatred it stirred up in my country. And I don't see why, at precisely this time, all that has to be stirred up again. I am not the least bit nostalgic for the Vietnam War. But if someone does stir it all up, somebody else has a right to answer. So far as I can tell, I do not agree with much of what Claymore said. But he was provoked, and his response was not all that far out of line.
