Subject: What About a New Mudcat Name? From: wysiwyg Date: 13 Dec 00 - 12:04 PM Hardi made me a lttle wooden headstone for the day I give up being called PRAISE. Dharmabum said once we killed her off proper we could have a good old Irish wake. Hmmmm... but I would like anyone looking up my posts to be able to find me across the name change.... The Susans here all seem to have qualifiers attached, and someone even took my HearMe name, Sooz! And I think posted just once. (Give it baaaaaaack!!!!!) I was thinking "Susan The Mudcat Meatball Formerly Far Too Well Known As Praise." STMMFFTWKAP..... a little cumbersome. Any other suggestions? Not Sugar Dog. Lotta them on the internet it turns out, altho I did capture the last good one with that at Hotmail-- THE Sugar Dog. Not any of the individual characters I've run here. ME. "The Real Susan"... nope the others are real too. Dang! ~Susan |

There's always "P.W." for preachers wife,"Spawn of Cthulhu" is probably not appropriate although "Naked in Paradise" has a nice ring to it. Has Soozan been grabbed? How about "Pillar of Rectitude". Naw. Can't see it. AHA! I've got it! "The Bluebird of Happiness", "Hap" for short. There. All settled. troll**********smiling proudly |

Subject: RE: Help: What About a New Mudcat Name? From: Naemanson Date: 13 Dec 00 - 01:29 PM How about SuPraisan? Sooz Da Flooz? Esairp? Personally I'm voting for keeping the old name. I think once we count the votes, including the Florida votes 17 times, you will find the old name wins.

From: Gary T Date: 13 Dec 00 - 02:26 PM Praisusan (or some variant thereof), if that doesn't defeat the purpose by being too close to the name that's getting killed off. Subject: RE: Help: What About a New Mudcat Name? From: GUEST,Russ Date: 13 Dec 00 - 04:17 PM ~Susan, one of the neat (and occasionally scary) things about the net world is that some of the rules are so much different than those in the real world. In the net world you can change your name simply by typing something different. No lawyers, papers, etc. I encourage you to take advantage of your freedom here. Who do you WANT to be? "Praise" was good for a time in a certain place. Who do you feel like now? Since you are being up front about the name change you don't have to worry about misleading anybody on the forum. |

BB, P.S. My vote is to keep it ... if YOU want to. |

Subject: RE: Help: What About a New Mudcat Name? From: Sourdough Date: 13 Dec 00 - 05:02 PM I have to assume that you have a good reason for wanting to change your Mudcat name. I have to admit I was a little put off at first with a perhaps unreasonable concers (as though it was any of my business!) that you might be a self-righteous sort with little substance. It didn't work out that way. Your name was your witness but nothing I saw anyway made me feel you were trying to shove anything down anyone's throats or pass yourself off as anything more than someone who was trying to do the best she could as best as she knew how and was able. Whatever name you choose, I am glad that you are a part of Mudcat. Sageprod .(who tries to do the best he can in the way he knows how - a way that is not Christian but who appreciates people who try to live by their beliefs.) |
Subject: RE: Help: What About a New Mudcat Name? From: Little Neophyte Date: 13 Dec 00 - 06:03 PM Well from my experience Praise I highly recommend you keep your current moniker. That kind of thing is not encouraged around here. In fact I had to sleep with Bert to be allowed to change mine back to Little Neophyte. Banjo Bonnie oh I mean Little Neo oh I mean Banjo Bonnie oh I mean Little Neo |
Subject: RE: Help: What About a New Mudcat Name? From: Lepus Rex Date: 13 Dec 00 - 06:37 PM I got to 'Lepus Rex' first, Praise! Nyah-nyah. Whatever you do, Praise, don't do one of those Matt R, Bill F, Fred S, Betsy K type nicks... I never can remember those kind of names. And it sounds like kindergarten. (no offense) Actually, I'd like to change MY name so it doesn't have that underscore in it (I_didn't_know_spaces_were_allowed_back_then...), but that would just complicate things when I'm looking up old threads I contributed to... So if I were you, I'd stick with 'Praise.' ---Lepus Rex |
Subject: RE: Help: What About a New Mudcat Name? From: Jon Freeman Date: 13 Dec 00 - 06:51 PM Lepus Rex, as I indicated to Praise earlier, if you just go to the membership page and edit your nickname, all your past membership posts will reflect that change. Subject: RE: Help: What About a New Mudcat Name? From: wysiwyg Date: 13 Dec 00 - 08:38 PM Well, it's been another interesting day in the life. These are all great. But I think it has become academic. I'm reading them with tears streaming down my face because I've always said that if Max wanted me to leave Mudcat I'd be outta here. From what I understand of what Joe Offer tells me, that's pretty much what Max said last night on the radio. I wish he'd just TOLD me, himself. Most of you know my present computer does not do radio... so I hadn't heard it myself or I would not have posted this thread. ~S~ |
Subject: RE: Help: What About a New Mudcat Name? From: Matt_R Date: 13 Dec 00 - 08:48 PM Oh well...I'm sorry to hear that Sooz. But like Oasis says "F*** 'Em and Do Yer Own Thing". There is life outside of Mudcat. This place has turning to fighting and nastiness and now is on the verge of being shut down. Get out while you can. |
Subject: RE: Help: What About a New Mudcat Name? From: Bill D Date: 13 Dec 00 - 08:57 PM ummm...I listened, and I don't think I heard anything like that....can't believe Max would say that, unless it was a poorly worded thing that was mis-heard.... Praise...98% of everyone here either likes you, or can tolerate you...much as with several others...it is YOU who must decide whether it is too much strain, given who you are and how you react to stress. Unless you can adopt a new name and stay out of controversy, things will always pop up...I have no problem having you here, but YOU need to examine it......perhaps practice under a name not mentioned yet...there is no easy answer once you have wounds.... I am truly sorry such pain and dilemas arise for ANYONE..... |
Subject: RE: Help: What About a New Mudcat Name? From: Bill D Date: 13 Dec 00 - 09:00 PM ummm...Matt..you have inside info on the status of Mudcat?...that is a pretty sweeping generalization, considering that MOST Mudcatters do NOT join in the battles... |

Subject: RE: Help: What About a New Mudcat Name? From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 13 Dec 00 - 09:39 PM Well I didn'tbnhea rity either, but whatb I'd have though he'd have said was thta interpersional differences are better dealt with via Personal Messages, which is more or less the kind of thing Praise has said often enough.
"This place has turning to fighting and nastiness" - not so. There are thorns on the roses, and horseflies inthe meadow, and wasps zoomimg round and a few stings. But that's what picnics are always like. I very much hoe Matt's prediction is not going to happen. If the Mudcat ever does close - and it's a nasty idea - it wouldn't be because of this kind of stuff. It must be a murderous business keeping it upright and running.
Please everyone, send in some loot! How much would you pay to get it back, if it had folded? Quite a lot I suspect. |
Subject: RE: Help: What About a New Mudcat Name? From: Jon Freeman Date: 13 Dec 00 - 09:39 PM Praise, like Bill, I listened to the show and I didn't hear any such suggestion. If my memory serves my correctly, Max did complain about bickering between people which I am sure is something he doesn't need. To follow up from what Bill has said, you should know the "rules" of taking an Evangelical stance in life pretty well by now. Rightly or wrongly, this will provoke a hostile reaction from some and whether you like it or not, if that is to be your approach, you need to learn how to deal with it without crying to the forum for help and getting involved with pettyness. This is a situation every Christian (and possibly members of other faiths/ beliefs) finds them self in, one that exists in all aspects of life (unless you shelter yourself solely with members of your own faith) and one that to some degree, we all have to deal with. Jon |
Subject: RE: Help: What About a New Mudcat Name? From: Rick Fielding Date: 14 Dec 00 - 12:48 AM Look folks, I've been here for a while, and you know I stay away from juvenile arguments, and as far away as I can from the folks who simply CAN'T resist being hurtful and nasty.....but...give me a break "This place has turned to fighting and nastiness...." What a load of crap! A tiny group of people who constantly remind us that they don't care what anybody else thinks cannot destroy the good sense and social skills of the vast majority . The toleration level here is at times astonishing. For the eight millionth time, if one of the nasties attacks, IGNORE IT, or post something like "message acknowledged"...and get back to the original point of the thread. You will be supported by the huge majority. Rick |
Subject: RE: Help: What About a New Mudcat Name? From: GUEST,Roger the skiffler Date: 14 Dec 00 - 04:49 AM Susan, I can't suggest a name, Praise seemed OK to me but you gotta do what ya gotta feel comfy with. I started off as Roger the zimmer (after the zimmer frame walking aid that someone off-mudcat suggested as suitable to my age and decrepitude) as there are a lot of Rogers here (R in Baltimore, R in Sheffield, Shambles, Katlaughing's SO etc.) Later it occurred to me that this might offend people who really did need a zimmer frame so I changed it to reflect my sort of "folk" interest. You seem to like the blues perhaps BlueSue? Whatever you choose, if someone mocks, just ignore them. I don't get embroiled in the religious threads but I'm glad you're back for your musical and humour input. RtS |
Subject: RE: Help: What About a New Mudcat Name? From: Bert Date: 14 Dec 00 - 01:20 PM You know, I don't remember one thing about sleeping with Little Neo. DAMN that CRS!!!! It's a good thought though... Hmmmm.... Praise - You wanna change your name - Heh, Heh, Heh, he says in his best Music Hall Villains voice. Bert. (You KNOW I luv ya Praise) |
