Just took the girls to Goodwill to get our pirate costumes for the premier tomorrow night.
Twelve of us (9 female, 3 male) going dressed as pirates to the first show.
Just hope the rum isn't gone.

I can't wait to see Chow yun Fat as the chinese pirtate. He lost a lot of weight it seems and is back to his slender self. I was madly in love with him from 1990 to 1994. He's kinda like the Hong Kong Cary Grant. I did eventually meet him but by then I was in love with Dave, my husband.

Went to see it on the Thursday night with Ruth. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Earlier in the day I found the leftovers from Ruth's 18th (pirate) birthday party (packs of eye patches, skull and crossbones bunting etc). She wouldn't dress up to go. Only thing that spoiled it was the baby somebody had brought with them. At least they eventually took it out.

Just came back from watching Pirates3 with three kids, two kids' significant others, three friends and Tom and I. It was WONDERFUL........ now I have been a Johnny Depp fan since way back and he is wonderful........he takes the whole movie so lightly and clearly enjoys it so much.......and then there is the guest appearance of Keith Richard as Jack Sparrow's dad......(how's mum, asks Johnny Depp to Keith). My daughter tells me Keith nearly lost the role over the snorting his father scandal......glad better minds prevailed and he stayed in it. He was terrific.

Pure fun........I highly recommend it.

Tia, the goat was funny, true. But the Best Scene has to be the fight where Will and Elizabeth...well, I won't divulge the plot, such as it is. JUST GO SEE IT--Truly, pure fun. And yes, Keith Richards was great. "Keeper of the Code" indeed!

Thanks for the reviews. My local paper gave it a horrible review, but the same guy didn't like Spiderman 3, either, so I just assumed he didn't know anything. I'll go see it after the crowds die down.

Definitely well worth a visit and yes, the scene with the multiple Jacks was quite somethng as was the Elizabeth/Will fight scene -- if you stay to the very end beyond all the credits, there is an interesting mini trailer for Pirates 4 --not wishing to give anything away, if you see the fight scene and then watch the very end of the movie you wonder when they had time for what occurs in the little teaser to Pirates 4. Have I thoroughly confused everyone.....?

Yes i have heard of a fourth movie, and i couldn't be happier! I have attended the last premieres and have met the stars both times, including two different autographs from the man of the films, johnny depp. I am hoping with all in myself that i will win the tickets to the pearl party... we need to put pirates to the charts, GO SEE PIRATES AS OFTEN AS YOU CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reviews are a bit mixed on Pirates. Still going to go see it though. Most of the negative reviews are about too much talking - in other words, most likely character and plot things, which is what I watch films for anyway.

Maybe it'll erase the memory of wasting close to 3 hours on Spiderman 3, which is the worst thing I've seen since the film of "The Avengers". It had the kind of script that George Lucas would reject for sounding too stilted and cheesy. It had a villain (Sandman) who has no purpose other than FX, not even plot-wise. Worse still, it actually had some good acting (MJ, Peter and Harry have very believable chemistry, and Sandman is OK too), which just shone a huge light on the awfulness of plot and script. It's not often that I see a film which makes me wish I'd stayed at home and got my ironing done instead. Spiderman 3 achieved that, and that's really saying something.

Well, I got to see it this afternoon with Limpit. It's a bit long but the goat is cute.

Fight scenes go on a bit too much and credulity is stretched more than once.

It's a 12A cert (children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult) so if your child is of a nervous disposition and easily upset, you might want to sneak in late and miss out the first 8-10 minutes. The rest is all typical POTC stuff, but that beginning bit is a tad gruesome for nervous bunnies.

Otherwise, it's a great movie and doesn't deserve the slating it's getting from some quarters.

The rum's gone as well.

Interesting that his 'Billy Bones' predates the film series

I just about managed to keep Maddie calm enough until the release date but had to drop her off straight from school. Geoff and I will be going this Wednesday when its half price! Maddie did however manage to convince some poor supply (Sub) teacher that her name was Depp. Gave him some story about her mother remarrying (ha ha)and yes it was just a coincidence - can just imagine the converstaion in the staff room and how stupid he felt when he realised he'd been had!

I was very disappointed in Pirates3. I found it dreadfully dull. There were numerous plot twists, but instead of adding interest it only seemed that they couldn't figure out how to end the damn thing. The filled the film with as many fight scenes and special effects as they could. I liked the multiple Depps, very well done, but I thought the film really took a nosedive after the scene on the beach. The rest of the actors seemed to have done little more than recite dialogue.   The humor and charm of the first two movies was missing in this one. I was looking forward to Keith Richards appearance, which I found lacking - after you say "oh look, it's Keith", there was nothing more for him to do. A wasted opportunity.

I was also disapointed in Spiderman 3. That could have been two good films but again the producers tried to cram too much into the plot and stretch it out way too long. I loved the first two films of that series too.

This is a sad movie season in my opinion.

The boat did look good.

I wonder if this "Black Pearl" is the same ship that the Newport singer Jim McGrath served as a cook going back and forth across the Atlantic. (Prolly late '70s/early '80s) He wrote and recorded a song with The Reprobates with the chorus something like:

McGrath had a few great yarns about that particular voyage. Says the Capt. declined to speak to him all the way from the Isle of Wight back to Newport.   Something about drinks and German sailors and more drinks and a flopped singing performance for a Lord Beaverbrook. Tsk, tsk...

I thought Pirates 3 was a great movie with great action scenes. I loved the way it came together at the end EXCEPT for the fact that Elizabeth has to wait 10 years for Will on an Island by herself?!!? I think when Will comes back she's going to be looking pretty bad...anyone ever watch Cast Away with Tom hanks??? Ugh. other than that the movie was fantastic.

Spiderman 3 was a total bust....TOTAL BUST! If anyone ever read the comic...which alot of people have....would be PISSED about how part 3 in this series went. It was utter blasphemy.
