Subject: RE: Chester UK Session Shift From: Mr Happy Date: 06 Aug 09 - 08:48 AM Due to unforeseen events, Mr Happy's Come All Ye was unable to take place at the Carlton last night. When we & our acolytes arrived there, the place was closed & scaffolding & red/white barrier tapes around it. A notice on the doors saying the pub had sustained some damage & was unsafe, for the moment. We had a quick look at the rear & saw the back of the pub had suffered some quite severe structural damage, possibly from a vehicle collision. Anyhow, a quick consensus was taken amongst ourselves & we decided to try first the Bear & Billet as an alternative venue & left a note on the door of the Carlton to say where we'd gone. Arriving at the B & B proved fruitless as another event was on there. Plan B resulted in our trying our luck at Ye Olde Customs House, whose management we very welcoming & happily we were able to have our sinaround in the upstairs function room. I did a quick ringaround to let others know where we were, & we ended up with about a dozen of our regulars, concluding with a fine selection of songs & tunes! I've not yet been able to contact anyone at The Carlton to find if we're able to re-convene there next week, but I'll post news here [or maybe start a separate thread] to let all know what's happening. |
Subject: RE: Chester UK Session Shift From: Mr Happy Date: 07 Aug 09 - 06:36 AM Latest news! Had an email from Carlton landlord today: ******************************** Hi John, The Pub had a 26 ton truck back into it yesterday. The structural engineer didn't show up until 5 and refused to issue a site safety certificut until today so we had to remain closed. As I didn't have any of your phone numbers I couldn't contact you. We are open for business as usual from now on. Cheers Chris [Landlord] ******************************** So all back to normal from next Wednesday on |

Subject: RE: Chester UK Session Shift From: Mr Happy Date: 02 Dec 10 - 06:47 AM Due to unforeseen events, last nights Come All Ye couldn't take place in its normal venue at the Carlton in Handbridge. Instead, we held the evening in the Customs House pub in Watergate Street. After doing a quick ringaround of most folk,I posted info on the door of the Carlton for anyone else. Apologies to any of our regulars who couldn't be contacted about this abrupt change & congrats to those select few who struggled through the snowdrops for their weakly dose of jovial sinaround! There'd been a burst water pipe at the Carlton, so the place was closed. Normal service will be resumed for next week & onwards. |
