Columbus Day in the States- A Thanksgiving before freeze-up is More Better!

Gives one the chance to celebrate twice with pumpkin pies and turkey!

Oh my... oh my... and I didn't really eat much... just four tablespoons of squash, four of chow, a few of carrots and turnip each, and about ten of turkey... turkey is just so filling... it's that there triptophane or sommat what makes ya sleepy?

Well, on top of the beer I had when I was cooking. Oh well, in a few hours, I'll have some some more if I am still awake.

If we kill all the turkeys, who's gonna govern us?

Given a choice between Harper, Igger, and a prairie chicken, I'd vote Fool Hen every time.

There was a scratching at the door tonight. A sort of pecking sound. I opened the door and looked out into a rainy, cold, and miserable night, and what did I see?

A turkey in the last stages of exhaustion and desperation.

"For god's sake, hide me!" he croaked. "I've been on the run for days."

What could I do? I let him in, gave him a warm seat before the fire, and he is now resting comfortably on a pillow near the hearth.

His incredible sense of relief upon finding out that we don't even celebrate Thanksgiving in this house was pathetic and heartbreaking to see.

How terrible it is that hundreds of thousands of his bretheren in turkey factories and in the fields will not escape the hideous fate that awaits them as the human population, led by maniacs like Sarah Palin, engages in mass murder of this gentle and sensitive species of large bird!

Well, I have done my bit. This is one turkey they are NOT going to get.

Happy Thanksgiving! (I know, I'm a little bit late for my time zone.)

Today is also JtS' and my anniversary (7th), so I made him a lamb pot roast because he loves lamb, and he said it was delicious. I have to take his word for it, since I don't eat meat. I had some delicious baked tofu. mmmmm tofu mmmmm

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends! Himself and I are in Tronna, the turkey is cooking, we are with our son and his lovely Canadian girlfriend, and all is well with the world.

Cheers with a Canadian accent
